Slight Back Pain

I was trying to crack out of sleep mode this morning when I began stretching/swinging my arms. I felt a little something in my back go, I sat back down in bed, got up and went to go workout.

It isn't anything serious but I can still feel it now.

All I'm wondering is, should I go cold or hot? Basically, should I ice it or should I go to my club and sit in the hot tub?

Mine started out as just a twinge, then it just got worse until I couldn't sit for more than ten minutes without nagging pain. Now 2 years later I'm just now finding a doctor who has a rational explanation instead of wild guesses. Somehow a facet joint in my back has either worn it's cartilage or fractured, my doctor said it usually comes from twisting motions. Applying heat is the best method for relieving pain, cold is for bringing down inflammation....I would say a cold pack and then warm bath...

ALWAYS cold right after it happens!! NEVER hot right after it happens. Do what ever you want later but don't make the swelling worse at the onset, IMHO!!!!!

Maybe you could pinpoint the muscle involved? You are being very vague. Learning about that muscle would be good for your mind and body.

Thanks guys. I'm supposed to be in at work at 9, I called in saying I'd be late, but I honestly might just to take the entire day off. I have to work out tonight, doing strenuous shit isn't going to help anybody.

It's really strange. The pain like changed sides. It definitely happened when I was twisting though, which is strange that you mention that manic.

I think I'm going to get a head pad and lay in bed until atleast noon. I'll report back in a couple hours.
