I'm gonna be lifting at school 4th period this year. I'm lifting 4 days a week, everyday except thursday. The lifting session is gonna be about 3.5 hrs after breakfast, and right before lunch, with no opportunity to eat between breakfast and lifting.

To save time in the morning, I was planning to take some kind of shake and a multivitamin for breakfast, and then bring a sandwich with a lot of meat, a banana or 2 for the potassium, and another shake for lunch.

My questions: What kind of shake and multivitamin would you suggest?

If your going to take a shake in the morning, use something thats slower digesting than whey(especially if its 3.5hrs out from the gym). Also eat some complex carbs like oats. THe shake for lunch, whey is fine especially if its right after the gym.

For a multi vitamin, I use daily one by Twinlab

Should he get casein protein then?

Well, more of a blend would be good.. like muscle milk by cytosport or something like syntha 6 from bsn. I wouldnt go with a casein/micellar peptide blend, thats better before bed

We provide muscle milk collegiate at our facilities...isn't there a lot of unwanted shit in those drinks?

I have never used the 'collegiate' and i had neve heard of it until you mentioned it. Looks like a MRP.. I was saying a protein powder thats a blend and some oats

Posted by: zonaguy03

blend of whey and oats? or whey/oats and another type of protein? I love whey and oats.

Blended protein. For example, this is the ingredients of the syntha 6 I mentioned:

Quote:
Other Ingredients: A Sustained Release Ultra-Premium Protein Matrix Comprised of (Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate [Milk] Rich in Alpha-Lactalbumin, Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolate [Milk] Rich in Whey Isolate Peptide Fractions, Calcium Caseinate, Micellar Alpha and Beta Caseins and Caseinates [Milk], Milk Protein Isolate [Milk], and Egg Albumen [Egg]
As you can see there are many different protein fractions here.. like whey concentrates/isolates, peptides, casein, micellar, and albumin. Thats what a blend is.

Then if he mixes it with some raw oats in a shaker for some complex carbs he has a good breakfast shake that will sustain his body for several hours

I ask b/c I usually have to wait a good 4-5 hours to eat with teaching 4 hrs straight. I have reg. whey and of course my fav oats. So if i have micellar matrix (casein blend) I could just use that with whey and oats? if yes that would be great.

Posted by: PreMier

Yea, but the point in getting different proteins is for the different uses.. and no I wouldnt use it at night.

If you want a night use pro peptide dorian yates apprved, or the xtreme formulations peptide
