the best supplement for you is CONSISTENCY.

Stop messing around. get on a plan and stick with it! Results just don't happen. You have to actually do some work and do that work over an extended period of time....like your whole life.

P-funk is right (tough but right) - you do need to stick to it. My training partner isnt as committed as me so doesnt get the results I get - it really is that simple!

Good luck dude - keep at it!

Welcome to IM Cole. We have the supplement you need right here at IM. It's called a journal. They are free and very handy. You start a thread here and come in every day to record for yourself how well you are keeping your commitments to yourself. We all come in and joke with you, support you, motivate you, and critique your routines and dietary adjustments.

The problem is though that you have to be serious and actually keep your commitment to yourself or the whole thing just goes to crap and you end up the fat guy you don't wanna be.

Look in on the journal section and see what I mean ...

Again Cole ... welcome to IM!!!

Welcome to IM!

All good posts in this thread. Supplements are just that - supplemental to a good program, good diet, and most importantly the will and the drive to put the previous two things into action and see them through.

The members here are always happy to give you advice on a training regime, a nutrition plan, and to keep you motivated, but you need to find that goal inside you thatll keep you going or all the advice in the world wont do a thing for you.

Good luck

Welcome! I'm new to this forum also, but not new to workouts. After retiring from basketball in '93 I let my body go also. I'm 6'8" and was tipping the scales at 300 lbs. After a vacation to Florida, my wife and I were looking at some photos of our 3 kids and myself on the beach. I asked her who the fat guy was with our kids. I mean my gosh, I can't believe that Greenpeace or PETA, anyone, didn't try to shove me back in the water!

Then and there I made a committment to shed the weight. Everything everyone said above is exactly correct. Journal what you do. Maybe get on some creatine and whey isolate, but remember just taking supplements isn't going to transform your body, you've got to really sweat! You will probably hit a wall at some point after you have started and this may be where you stopped in the past. Push through that wall and once you start seeing results and feeling better about your body, you'll probably be hooked.

I probably experienced some of the things that you have; starting and stopping, not being committed, but now I'm hooked and get upset when I can't workout.

Finally, I can't stress DIET enough! If you are serious you can't be eating french fries for lunch everyday. I used to clean my kid's plates because I didn't want to see food wasted. Not anymore! My kids now look at me and say, "you can't have this can you?" I'm on a very high protein diet during the week and load good carbs on the weekend. This has worked wonders for me. I have actually changed my body's metabolism by dong this and now burn the carbs up with no problem. After weighing 300 lbs I lost 50 just with diet and working out sporadically. Once I worked through the walls that I used to hit and got really serious I added 20 lbs and am now a happy lean 270 lbs!

GOOD LUCK!
