Might I jsut lead off the season by saying my Caps are looking sick. Ovy, Kozlov, Nylander, Poti, Kolzig, Semin, Backstrom, Clark, and even players like Boyd Gordon and Matt Pettinger are looking to bring us back to the playoffs. Penguins are still a bunch of gays, and Ray Emery can still take out your entire first line. Also, anyone in here actually going to post besides Iaindaniel?

After the Redsox, Patriots and Celtics win their championships this season, the Bruins will be the last Boston team to join the legacy and be the first city ever to win a championship in all 4 sports in 1 year.

GO BRUINS!

Posted by: goandykid

Celtics are overrated, The wizards will take a shit on them opening day. But the Pats are the real deal. Sox need to pick it up too.

...And the celtics are my second team, Red Auerbach is an idol. Here's Gilbert Arenas' quote for the Nov 2nd opener vs Boston, in Boston.

"Oh man, everybody is jumping on this Celtics band wagon. You know what? I was going to go prediction-free for the whole year, but I guess I’m going to break that now.

Now, if anybody remembers back when I got drafted, I got a report back that the reason I dropped so far in the draft was that Jim O’Brien of the Celtics said that I was too immature and that I wasn’t ready for the NBA. What really happened was that I had an Achilles injury and I went back to L.A. to go get it healed when I was supposed to have a two-day workout in Boston with O’Brien. He didn’t like that. So word came back to me that he was trashing me and it put this knife through my chest about the Boston Celtics.

Back in the day when I would day dream I thought that if I could score 100 points against any team it would be the Boston Celtics. Now, I knew it would never happen, but if I could do one thing in the NBA it would be to score 100 against Boston. So anyway, since everybody is back on the Boston bandwagon it brought back old memories. So listen here. On November 2nd, we’re going to go into that building, we’re opening up Boston. Right now I’m telling the Boston fans: You guys are going to lose. It’s not going to be a victory for Boston. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. "

Ugh it is going to be another long season for leafs fans

It's going to be another long season for the Bruins as well.

Shiz, do you honestly see them doing anything this year? It'll take at least five more years to recover from the Thornton trade, mainly because all we have to show for it is Marco Sturm. O'Connell should be shot, hung, or stoned. Easily one of the worst trades in modern sport history.

Posted by: shiznit2169

goandy - Arenas is going to eat his words when they get wooped

sox - i was exaggerating but i think the Bruins will have a decent year but not good enough to go all the way

Posted by: BigPapaPump68

I really hope that boston considers changing their colors. I swear, I have them just because they wear yellow in their uniforms. The burins are a fairly young team, IMO it's going to be a few years for your players to excel before the briuns are any kind of threat.

how bout them coyotes!

My caps got their asses kicked last night, but Semin should get back from his ankle injury thursday, so he can get started on that 40 goal season again. And Gil will represent.

St. Louis Blues all the way. Not looking to bad so far either.

Fucking Caps.

I went to the pittsburgh at Washington game a few weeks ago, it was a fucking warzone, but amazing.

Side Note: I bought a new pair of gloves the other day, but theyre unusually stiff, even with them being new, my last pair loosened up pretty quick. I bought a larger pair since I'm not playing up anymore, but still, very stiff. Any tips on loosening them up, kind of like how people use all sorts of stuff on their baseball mitts?

Posted by: IainDaniel

What kind of gloves did you buy?

Why the fuck would you buy a longer pair of gloves. I play D, and will always use a short cuff.

You could always be a leaf fan

Posted by: goandykid

Leaf joke went way over my head. Small selection here in VA without ordering online, and I liked the general feel of 'em. Theyre good quality CCM's, I wouldnt buy gloves from anyone else. Tack 492's I think.

I bought longer gloves b/c I was tired of getting slashed right above where a short cuff ends, and I still have basic full ROM. Any tips on breaking them in though?

Side Note: I'm just getting back from my 2nd inline game in 2 days, and the second consecutive day I've played like pure shit. I had to buy new wheels b/c my old ones were falling apart, and for some reason, even though theyre the exact size, the wheels arent fitting well. The bearings are sliding in and out of em', making it feel like you're skating during an earthquake, and my back wheels just straight up stopped rolling and got caught up in the skate. Couple that with this new pair of gloves I'm working in, you can guess how ugly it was. We still won though.

All this talk about NHL, but no one mentioned my Sens... Come on now no other team is going to touch them this year. Heatley, Spezza, Alfredsson all the way!

Celtics are 3-0. Destroyed Denver last night. The big 3 combined for 71 points.

Raps gave them a good run even though they shot like shit.

Don't know what to tell you. I have never had a problem breaking in hockey gloves. Gloves are pretty lose right out of the store. It is probably the longer cuff, affecting the mobility

Are you playing now? What stick(s) are you using? I'm still working with 2 cheap wooden Joe Thornton's, but I love 'em, even though they weigh a ton. I was thinking of picking up an Easton Octane stick at Modell's the other day.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Of course I still play now... I am Canadian.

I have a one-piece compe Easton Synergy.

And a 2-piece comp as my back-up.

I still prefer the the good ole Wooden Sherwood Feather-lite.

Posted by: goandykid

How much did the Synergy cost you, 120 or so? Worth it? And what're you playing in, a beer league, adult league, something else?

You still feel that way???

WHo am I to talk??? The fuggin Habs are having another one of those "well play hockey for 20 out of 80 games" season. Usually, we win win win up until Dec. 23rd. After the Allstars game, the team sinks, trades happen and someone gets fired....But this year, the shit started in late November...

It was given to me

It is ok, nothing spectacular. I am not a big easton stick fan. I miss my Christian sticks, those were the best.

Men's league. All levels, but pretty competitive. Guys who played juniors, to average Canadian Hockey players.
