It's his own damn fault. He should have pulled Pedro.

with the yankees pay roll, they should have won more than 4 world series. will see what torre can do without the big finacial backing and the ability to buy up who ever he wants.

Phil Jackson is a great coach when he has all the players too.....but once he doesn't have them, he can't win a championship for some reason....weird.

Are they great coaches? Or are they good coaches put into great situations?

Agreed. That focker.

Joe Torre will be managing Derek Lowe and Nomar Garciaparra now. I just felt that was worth noting.

First off, money does not buy championships. If you look at the Marlins for example, they have won two championships in the last ten years and they are low on the payroll list.

Secondly, Torre is a mediocre manager at best. The players (specifically the guys in the 90's) won the World Series. They are the ones who made Torre the man he is today, not the other way around. Torre was a terrible manager before the Yankees. He got fired several times and i won't be surprised if he gets fired again with the Dodgers because that team has no chance. His managerial tactics (especially how he deals with young pitchers) is horrible.

Are the Dodgers on Schilling's list?

It was a pretty long list but it didn't include the Yankees.
Good, although he's a great pitcher we don't need the drama.....we had enough with Jeter.

They did buy them, but then they quickly had a firesale.

I must admit I have questioned Torre's calls myself, but he was perfect for that team.

He was able to deal with the Boss and the media, not to mention the million dollar babies.

That skill seems to have been highly underrated.

Early indications are that dealing with Hank won't be much easier. That guy seems dumb as a bag of hair.

Posted by: min0 lee

I hope he isn't.

a) money puts you in a good position to win championships. obviously players need to play.

b) there are always exceptions

c) the marlins play in the fucking national league

d) aside from the Tigers last year, look at the teams that have been there in the end for the AL...yankees, red sox, yankees, etc....big money = big players = big chances for championships.
