When your body declines.

I was once doing some reading, and I read somewhere that your body gradually declines and you lose your gains somewhere at about 8 days without any weight training, does anyone know much about this?

Everyone is different. There are some statements, which use averages, that can be applied to weight lifters in general.

This is not one of them: "lose your gains somewhere at about 8 days without any weight training".

I once took an entire month off, and came back and did a PR in Back Squats. There are many variables that affect the loss of gains due to inactivity. Such as your diet. Or what supplements you take. Or how experience you are in weight training. Not to mention basic genetics.

Even if you do lose gains, muscle memory will help you make recover your gains faster than you took to make them initially.

Agreed. I took a month off recently due to chronic headaches (turned out to be sodium deficiency - of all things).

I lost a lot of strength during time off, but it came back very quickly (3-4 weeks).

I have broken PRs though after smaller breaks (1-2 weeks).

a lot of people will grow if they take a week or two off. Like anything else you got to keep your body guessing for the best results

Alright that sounds good it kind of clears up on what I had in mind I appreciate you all clearing that up.

I seem to be a bit weaker after I come off a break, but I'm usually breaking PR's within a couple of weeks of that.

I took a much needed 4 day rest without doing anything and I was doing about 10lbs lighter on the bench but it wasn't anything permanet.

Thats different to me. Like DOMS I have taken more time off and got PBs. I find it hard to believe you would lose strength if you ate properly and rested enough in 4 days.

Yeah I struggled a little, not something I would lie about man, I mean it didn't last very long but I put my usual on there and I couldn't get what I how many reps I wanted so I moved down to 150 and did a set of 10 with that and then went back up to 180 and it was like normal.
