I was thinking about taking a protein bar and vegetables to work for lunch. What brand do you guys buy, and where is the best place to get them cheap?

Also, how many grams of protein should I be eating per day? I am 190 lbs.

none. They are all overpriced and garbage ingredients.

Seriously? There isn't one good brand of protein bars? Shakes are just so inconvenient at work.

Can't you just take some chicken or something then. How about a can of tuna?

I don't eat protein bars, but I think a few people on here probably do even if they won't admit it.

Protein bars are loaded with crap you dont want to eat regularly. Occasionally if I am in a jam, I will eat a Met RX bar, but they are expensive ($3.50) each, and contain a long list of ingredients that sound like something you shouldn't be eating. (titanium dioxide) what the hell is that anyway?

How about whey powder in a shaker, just add water... Or a sandwich? Or like vortrit said, a can of tuna, you can also get those single serving tuna pouches, they come flavored and taste fine right out of the bag.... And dont need refrigeration

I eat a protein bar every week or two I'd say...they come in handy in some situations. Sometimes you don't expect to be caught in a place where you can't prepare food, and you didn't bring any prepared to begin with. It happens.

When I do, I always eat the Greens+ High Protein bars...250 cals, 20g carb, 12g fat (pretty much all of it from organic peanut butter, and 20g protein (whey isolate). All-natural ingredients, some of that greens powder stuff which is supposed to be good for you, and best of all they taste DYNAMITE. I seriously love them.

Trioplex bars aren't bad as far as ingredients, and the taste is great.

No... No protein bars (unless you find a local farmer that breeds protein bars!). Aim for 1-2g per 1lb of you.

Question:
How are protein shakes inconvenient!? Last time I checked you just add water and shake. Potentially, if that's too mind-blowing to comprehend, you could buy an electric shaker-mixer-thingy and you wouldn't even have to do the "& shake" part. Just add water! How fucking convenient do you need your lunch to be!!?

Maybe you should look into an electric-dumbbell-curler or a self-squatting-barbell to save all that awful inconvenience at the gym too.

wtf?!

Inconvenient... Only in America!

thats hardly a lunch, more like a snack.

Try 2 pieces of whole wheat bread
tsp of low-fat mayo
6 slices of turkey breast
one slice of low-fat swiss cheese
couple pickle slices
tsp mustard

along with a fruit
some baby carrots
low-fat yogurt
and water

Thats a lunch.

enjoy.

1.5-2g protein per 1 lb. of body weight = suggested protein daily intake

Maybe you should fuck off, and get yourself a fucking girlfriend, loser. Too much aggression is a sure sign of sexual frustration.

It is inconvenient to clean a blender at work. I have never had a shake you can just add water and shake that tasted decent. Why don't you ask for a little explanation before you start cussing someone out? Fucking dickhead.

From the look of your picture you are the one too inconvenienced to hit the gym.

He's not looking to pick a fight, so don't get your back up.

Point is, protein bars are pretty much a coffee crisp with some whey added in there for the most part <shrugs> If you need a quick solution buy some milk, get a shaker, a spoon, and your in buisness...it really shouldnt be too inconvinent to as others have suggested, get an altenrative hooked up thats better for you than a protein bar.

Your diet is important.
Edit: U-Turns are pretty good caramal and chocolate covered whey..hmm!

Jay Robb bars are pretty good and they don't have a lot of that other junk in them. You can also make your own protein bars, there's a bunch of recipes on this site but in a nut shell you really just need oats- Protein Powder- Penut butter and h20- yummy cheap protein bars!

Home made protein bars are the best!!! Loads of recipes on the net.

I carry one in my purse and bag all the time. The only thing I hate more than skipping a workout, is skipping a meal... It sure aint no meal, but it beats feeling hungry !
