Breakfast as the biggest meal?

Hey,
<FONT COLOR="blue"><FONT size="4">
Is it best to have your biggest meal at breakfast?

I heard eating a big breakfast is good because you can burn it off throughout the day.

I eat very large breakfasts, I then eat a small lunch and a small to medium dinner (no snacks throughout the day).

Thanks,
Foodio

No snacks? You must be STARVING by lunch and again by dinner.

Big breakfast is ok - but then remember smaller more frequent meals. I think I do 4-6 a day.

If you're trying to gain muscle or lose fat, I think it's best to have 5-7 smaller, more evenly proportioned meals throughout the day.

The reason you're able to eat the huge breakfast that you do is because you're eating very little the evening before and you're basically starving when you wake up. It's never good for your body to think it's starving. Not only does it want to store everything as fat in case you really are starving and it will be the last meal ever; but you tend to overeat, which will also lead to storing everything as fat.

Hey,

But the thing is I'm not really starving at any point during the day. I can even get by without eating lunch.

I was thinking, since I eat so much at breakfast, well then won't it all burn off during the course of the day, especially since I won't really be adding much more food in my other meals?

Why is eating smaller meals so preferred?

Thanks,
Foodio

You may not feel hungry, but if you skip lunch, your body will still think it's hungry cause of no food in a certain amount of time and will eat away at your hard earned muscles and your next meal, even if it's small and/or healthy will be stored as fat. This may be why you are skinny but still have that gut

Eating smaller meals more frequently keeps your metabolism high, it never has to dip into itself for energy.

I eat a fairly good sized breakfast, then a smaller mid-morning snack and lunch, a myoplex for mid-afternoon snack about an hour and a half before workout, then a pretty big dinner. I'll eat carbs, pasta, bread, tortillas at dinner, I'm not too worried, I always make sure I'm up at least 3 1/2 to 4 hours after eating so I don't go to bed on a full stomach, that's enough time to digest and process the calories.
