I heard that scottish porridge was the same ting ??

Yes Scottish oats, sometimes called Irish oats or steel cut oats...same thing, even better than the old fashioned oatmeal, as they've undergone less processing

Rolled oats.

Go to tesco and get the value bags. They're about 60p for a kg.
