I'd be happy getting an extra 10 stacks for nothing.... There should be a fairly large difference between 1st and 2nd. Something other then pride needs to motivate you to be the best.

actually that is what is great about bodybuilding you now that they are not in it for the money, the way it USED to be with football, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. most pro athletes only care about the size of their contracts and endorsements, it's pretty sad.

The problem is actually that they are in it for the money. They have to place in the top 5 in order to make enough money to play the sport. All the cost of food and supplements to perform at such a level is not cheap. Very few guys in the sport live it up. Most of them are not living much better then the average american when it comes down to the bottom line. When you compare the sport of bodybuilding to football or baseball the salary and earnings are so drastically different. You can take a bench warmer on the Bears team that never plays and nobody has ever heard of and they make enough to buy the million dollar house, nice car, and still save so they can retire in 10-15 years. Very few bodybuilders can do that...probably the top 5 players.

As for other players only caring about the size of their contracts that is probably true. When a baseball player is making $100,000 per inning I am pretty sure he doens't beat himself up for striking out, or making an error. Reason is it doesn't change his lifesytle. He just lives to fight another day. Bodybuilders can be forced to retire before they really should if they are not placing high enough on a regular basis. So they have to focus on that money to keep playing.....like that country song by Garth Brooks "Rodeo"....that is the cowboy version of what happens to bodybuilders, and how they fight and struggle to make enough to play again.
