My first post here.
Over the last 9 months I have upped my training back to old levels, and managed to put some muscle back on. However, I am really struggling to shift fat and improve shape around my midsection. I dont want to starve myself, as I am desperate to gain or at least maintain muscle bulk. I am eating 5 meals per day, and mimimal junk. My cardio is 3-6 miles fast walking per day (for about 6 weeks now).

Am I being impatient, or do I need to up my game elsewhere?

Don't lower your calories...that's silly. and muscle ofcourse burns more fat in the long term then cardio. Cardio serves as a calorie burner...but might i suggest monitoring your heart rate? Maybe do some HIIT, or a long cardio day with your heart rate in your fat burning zone.

post your diet in detail.

I am no expert, but I think I would look at the carbs in your diet and just eat the bare minimum i.e. after workout etc. Look to increase protein and fats and cut out all junk. You may also want to up the cardio for a bit. They say the older you get, the harder fat is to shift. If that is true, you will really need to focus.

well, cleaning up your diet is always a good step, but I don't recommend telling people to just cut out carbs, if he were to post it in detail that would be helpful, but maybe he really does not want help?

Of course I want help.

I eat five meals per day. Typical day would be:

Meal 1:
4 egg omlette (I throw one yolk)
vine tomato,
2 slice of wholemeal toast

Meal 2:
25g wheyprotein
qtr natural low fat bio yogurt
Banana
Apple
30g porridge oats

Meal 3:
Tin of sardines or tuna (in water)
Baked potato or sweet potato
Grapefruit

Meal 4:
12 oz steak or chicken
Potato or brown rice (sometimes 5% fat oven chips)
Sweetcorn

Meal 5:

Bran flakes with raisins and brazil nuts
Skimmed milk
25g whey protein

In addition to this I have addition 25g protein drinks pre and post workout, and several expressos every morning.

What do you reckon please?
