There has been some serious talk between the Heat and Suns about sending Shaq for Shawn marion and marcus banks. Hope this happens, can't wait to see marion paired up with Wade.

Posted by: largepkg

The best part is Marion only has one more year left than Miami can go on a shopping spree for free agents.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Joe Thornton to San Jose no longer qualifies as the worst trade in sports history. Thank you Phoenix!

Posted by: Nate K

?? Why would you want Shaq?

yup yup.......we can make a push for Elton Brand next year. But that is if Shawn Marion opts out.

The Gasol trade was worse.

Not a chance.

Shaq is an albatross of a contract. He's a franchise crippler.

Not to mention, the reason the Suns have been effective over the last five years is because D'Antoni has had the right players in his "run and gun" style of offense.

Once again, "run and gun," not "hobble down the court and gun."

There is a slim chance with every body counting out Shaq he'll be as motivated as he's ever been, I just don't think motivation matters when your knees, hips and everything else are comparable to my 85 year old grandmothers.

What was Phoenix thinking?

Posted by: soxmuscle

It's truly mind boggling.

Not to mention, how does a guy who hasn't played in a month and isn't likely to play for another month due to his hip problems pass a physical?

Posted by: min0 lee

It's not just the hip problem, he's lazy at times.....but then again he is a big old guy.

Posted by: soxmuscle

He gave up on this Miami team.

P-Funk, talk about a piece of shit. Shaq did the exact same thing to the Heat that Moss did to the Raiders, except Moss wasn't taking up more than a third of the payroll in a league where money is everything.

Randy Moss > Shaquille O'Neal

That's the problem. They weren't.

Ya never know.... sometimes a trade can rejevunate a player especially, Shaq. I wouldn't be surprise if he elevates his game more because of this. However, he better get in better shape to run with the Suns.... not that they expect him to be a wing on a fast break! LOL!! The Suns, if they get better shooting with in/out plays that Shaq normally creates... I think Nash is going to be a bigger scorer. Raja better IMPROVE. Screw Diaw. They should trade his ass.

As for Miami, they'll again, be alright but I can't see Marion any better than Walker except be more active/defensive minded that Walker ever was. Miami will become a better team in a year or two granted that Wade stays healthy/injury free. But, he can't carry this whole team. Maybe, lose Jason Williams, another guy and cash for Jason Kidd or Cassell?

Shawn Marion is the number one fantasy player in basketball right now.

He now has nothing to play for but his next contract.

He'll be fantastic IMO.

Posted by: david

Oh, and other great news in the NBA that everyone may have missed is that

Marv Albert Signs Contract to Broadcast on TNT, NBA TV

Who cares??

yup, he stacks up every single category and is a hell of a rebounder for a small foward. Marcus bank I don't know much about so maybe you can give me the 411 on him since he played for boston.

Deep in the playoffs is a half court game, thats when shaq will do some damage.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Hey, I hope Shaq helps out as much as the next guy, but as far as I'm concerned the last two years (motivation or not) watching him play is an indicator.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Banks never panned out in Boston, nor did he in Phoenix, but I'm pretty sure he can be a viable back-up point guard for a long time in this league. Good role player, if he can learn to play in that role.

shaq is fucking lazy.......period. He only plays with heart in the playoffs. He even admitted to this (not in those words but he meant it). shaq will be good in the playoffs when the pace slows down (especially with the suns shooters), but im curious to see him run with the suns in there next couple of games.

There is a guy in the past few years that does that.

His name is Robert Horry

what terrible trade. the media is having a field day with this one.

Shaq is a slow fuck. He wont be able to run with that offense.

He won't be playing anytime in the next couple of games though...

That is true, however, when Phoenix is not using that type of offense and their going against a team that is half court style, then, this should give the Suns a good defensive unit. Shaq and Amare down in the blocks? If you get by Amare then, you have Shaq to deal with (or, run into). As for offense when Shaq's in the lineup, the 3 three bombers (Nash, Barbosa, Diaw-Bell) better nail their shots down! No excuses!

Absolutely, ESPN (the anti-christ) was speculating yesterday that his return would be a couple weeks from now (post all-star break) @ the Lakers.

Wade says he wants to be "out of Miami"!!!!

I think he should go to the west coast!

Posted by: largepkg

Wade will be a Chicago Bull in two years.

Miami Grapevines. We'll see if it goes public though. I think, like Shaq, Wade will go to another team.

O'Neal, on first practice with Suns: "A lot of running"

Shaquille O'Neal practiced with the Phoenix Suns for the first time Monday but it remains unknown whether he will play his first game for Phoenix this week or after the All-Star break. The instant reviews were that O'Neal looked a lot healthier than advertised but that it would take some time to incorporate him into the Suns system and get his conditioning ready for game play.
On his first practice, O'Neal said: "A lot of running. This is something very different for me. I'll just have to get in tune to what everybody is doing. When you talk about being a great team, everybody has to be on the same page. I don't want to be the one who slows us up, even half a millisecond."

East Valley Tribune -
During Shaquille O'Neal's first two workouts with the Suns, the team has expressed concerns that his powerful dunks could bring down the basket.

“Basically, they’ve said they don’t have the confidence to be under those baskets right now,” one Suns' official said. “And I can’t say I blame them.”

Shaquille O’Neal recently shot back at Bill Walton, who had stated that if O’Neal plays well with the Suns it will prove he was faking an injury while in Miami.
"If I’m faking an injury, then (Walton’s) whole injury-plagued career is a fake," O’Neal said. "One thing I really hate is a hypocrite. Mr. Walton has broken the big man’s ordinance code 225.27 — no big man under should talk about a big man above. It’s just not right and it’s disrespectful." If Shaq is as good on the floor as he has been in interviews and press conferences, the Suns won’t have any problem securing a championship.

Bill Walton is a pecker! After Larry Bird and Company got "bitch" an NBA title... (well, it wasn't for him anyway), he went on naming Larry Bird as a not so great player amongst the greats when he was asked to comment and opinion.

Walton should step down and show his son how to play better basketball.

Fuck Walton!

I wonder if Marion is enjoying his time in Miami?

Most people do personally! But, Professionally, I doubt it!

Shaq's playing damn well in Phoenix. He may be 36 but he's a legit 7'1" barefoot, 321 pounds, strong as hell and he has very skilled footwork and passing skills so it's not smart to doubt Shaq.

Shaq is an idiot, if he is so happy and doing well in Phoenix why the hell is he talking trash about Pat Riley and the miami heat organization?

Because he "had" players he was used to unlike that Ricky Davis.

It looks like Shaq is finally fitting in with the Suns. Jason Kidd, on the other hand, hasn't exactly had the hoped-for impact with the Mavs.
