Sleep paralysis, as far as I'm aware, is a way that we are protected from acting out our dreams. If we weren't immobilised during dreams we could injure ourselves or others.
I've had it a few times. The first time was many years ago. I felt that there was an evil presence in the bedroom - apart from me, that is - and I made a great effort to move. I sat up in bed and growled and told the 'presence' to clear off. When we find we can't move, the mind tries to make sense of it and often assumes that something evil is in control. By the way, I am not in the habit of growling in the bedroom. |
