So yea, I got the product in the mail yesterday before I left and am just now opening it up and taking a look at it.

Looks pretty cool, even though I probably would have my doubts about buying something like this if it were my own money. With that said, thats probably one of the reasons I'm good for this because until I'm proven wrong, I'll be avoiding these types of supps like the plague.

I'm not sure in what doses they'd like me to take the product, but I know for a fact having to take it in three separate doses would be bad for me. For instance, last week on Tuesday I woke up at 7AM and then didn't wake up on Thursday until like 1PM. While I'll have a lot of order this week with work every morning at 9AM, when I get back to school in a week I'll be back on my normal schedule which is pretty much all over the place.

Any recommendations on this? SB? nni?

Training will be the same as it's been in my journal. Westside style training with a 2 on, 1 off format (while I'm using this product). Shoulder is still a little iffy at this point, but I don't think it'll bother me too much (it didn't last week).

As far as supplements go, I don't really consider myself a big supplement guy. I'll take some sort of pre-workout energy/focus enhancer, right now being NO-Xplode, but nothing really else besides whey protein and a multi-vitamin.

Diet will be the same as usual which from what I can gather will be excellent for this type of supplement. Protein intake is high, hell the intake of everything is high. I pretty much always get 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, a lot of good healthy carbs (sweet potatoes, multigrain pasta, etc.) and a lot of good healthy fats (natural peanut butter, etc.).

I'm not sure what I weigh right now because I haven't weighed myself in quite some time (will do, tomorrow) but I can't imagine I've gotten any heavier than 150 since I switched gyms.

I'm psyched to get started. Hopefully they'll help me out with the dosage question and all will be set for tomorrows workout. Might do some cardio tonight if a game gets boring on TV today...

Well, been without internet for all of Saturday and Sunday, just now here with the stupid bastard fixing it.

I've been taking 2 caps twice daily, but again, I'd like to hear some recommendations on this. I want to be on this stuff for as little time as possible (4 weeks?) so getting this squared up ASAP would be nice.

First workout yesterday was great. I'll have a full write-up tonight when I'm done with work/working out.

It says to take 2 capsules, 2-3 times per day. I've been taking 2 in the morning and 2 at night, but took an extra dosage tonight with my work schedule keeping me on track.

Thanks.

Saturday, 3.8.08

Drove back from school friday afternoon after back-to-back (Thurs, Fri) workouts, and on Saturday had an off day from the gym.

I felt like a bum all day so I ended up running a mile (according to MapQuest) in what I thought was like 6-7 minutes, which is what I'm wanting to improve on.

Dosage = 2 capsules

Didn't take any Friday and wanted to give it a go for Sunday's workout, so I took the first dosage after dinner on Saturday night.

Sunday, 3.9.08

DE Bench - had an excellent workout, definitely more of a mind pump than anything else. More so than I usually am (which is hard to believe), but I really didn't want to leave the gym. I had a limitless amount of energy and not the kind of energy you get from an NO-Xplode dosing. Used chains for old times sake, tried out floor presses, felt even less pain (still some though) in my shoulder, and did a whole nice shoulder routine that I looked up beforehand. Just took some light cable/bw/kettlebell exercises and made a little circuit out if it. Fun times.

Dosage = 2 when I woke up, 2 before I went to bed.

I suppose I feel more thirsty than usual, but I think I'm more so saying that because I've read it before. I'm always thirsty so who knows. Again, the mind pump I had was brilliant. I had to force myself out of the gym.

  • Rack Deadlifts - Hadn't done these in a while, but hit some incredible numbers nonetheless.. 315x5, 365x5, 405x5, 455x3, 500x3. I had five plates and a 2.5 on each side, things got messy.
  • Stayed light on shrugs, shoulder
  • Leg Extensions - Maxed out the machine... 200x10, 250x10, 300x8, 325x8

Nice workout and good looking log

i'm late to the party but along for the ride!

2 pills is a serving. 4 pills per dya gets you 30 days as there are 120 caps in the bottle.

Most effective dosing for me was 2 pills, 3 times per day. But, that can be expensive.

Great log sox, seems like supps are helping.. looking forward to seeing end result

Posted by: timdull2

Better late than never! Tim's in the house!!!

Like Mace said on the dosing.... 6 caps each day may run a bit short. But I think it'd be fine to keep it at 4 - either go 2/2 or split it up 1/2/1 - with the 2 being pre-workout and the 1's being morning and evening. Spread it out evenly and you should be good to go.

Good luck with it, bro! Hope you like it. And if you need any help, just give us a shout.

I ran on Tuesday as it was a scheduled off day. Watching a basketball game does wonders for my running abilities. I couldn't leave until the second half was over and after my 1 mile run, walked on an incline for a good 20 minutes to a half. I need to keep this up...

Dosage: 2 caps

Wednesday, March 12th 2008

I tried to wake-up before work so I could workout and be able to go to the Blackhawks game without a worry, but with how little sleep I've gotten this week, I slept through my alarm. All was well as I was able to get out of work a couple hours early. The workout sucked, my shoulder is still really bothering me.. I shouldn't even say it's really bothering me, because it isn't. It doesn't really hinder me at all except when I'm trying to go heavy on ME Bench days which yesterday happened to be. As soon as I starting getting into heavy territory, I stopped, because my shoulder was in pain. Interestingly enough, I was still able to hit 225 for a single. Other than that, I basically stopped. Did a few more things here and there but wasn't going to be able to do heavy militaries, dips, etc. that I'm accustomed to so I just decided to go back to the locker room and do 100 push-ups and call it a day. Hawks game was fun, minus the fact that they aren't a very good hockey team.

Dosage: 2 caps

It's funny - I feel if I wasn't using this supplement right now, I would have been a grumpy piece of shit yesterday for having such a terrible workout. Not only that, but if you had asked me a week ago to skip a chest day, I probably would have justified it to myself by going light, but right now I'm completely content taking Saturday off from the gym completely and getting another 2 days of rest in a row. Naturally, we'll see if I can hold firm to that (probably not) but my shoulder has felt amazing after I've sat in the hot tub and not only am I going to be doing that tonight, tomorrow, and saturday but I iced it all day today as well. Really enjoying this stuff..

DE Squat day tonight..

Workout = DE Squat/Deadlift

Had an awesome workout, despite my shoulder pain refusing to go away. Did 20 rep sets on the leg press that kicked my ass, and was able to muster some pretty good numbers supersetting a high row, mid row and low row.

Dosage = 2 caps

Posted by: soxmuscle

I wanted to workout both Saturday and Sunday but my shoulder hasn't allowed me to do so. I planned on working out today and I want to, but again my shoulder is hurting me. I'm going to go to my classes today and see if I can workout again tonight, but this is really starting to piss me off.

Took 2 caps on Friday, no caps on Saturday, and no caps yesterday.

Just took 2 more this morning.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Edit: On Tuesday and Wednesday, I meant 2 servings and not just 2 caps.

Sorry for the confusion, you don't understand how aggravating this is.

I'd rather be deathly ill and unable to move than have this nagging shoulder injury that prohibits you from doing nothing but lifting weights.

Posted by: mistergoodbar

sox,

I understand from your previous post that your shoulder only becomes a problem during heavy bench.

I'm not following you on why you cancell entires days of lifting due to this, what i refer to : Highly over rated movement.

Posted by: soxmuscle

I can deal with the pain when I'm doing light pushing movements. It's when I go heavy that I can no longer tolerate it.

I want to lift heavy because I enjoy lifting heavy. I cancel entire workouts because I want it to heal properly.

Basically, I want to be able to have the same workouts I was having no more than two weeks ago, but I didn't feel I could unless I took some time off.

Posted by: mistergoodbar

sox,

Yes, I understand you want to heal. Who knows how long that will take? I like to lift heavy too. Perhaps you can do weighted dips?

I don't think improvising a bit would hinder the healing of your shoulder. In fact, movement, if done properly, can lead to speedy recovery of a joint. Someone who specializes in this area can say for sure.

I think we have all grown a fondness to the almighty heavy bench. After all, that is the first question out of everyones mouth when they see a lifter.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Monday, March 17th 2008

I'm going to have to switch up my "push" days if it isn't healed completely for Thursdays workout.

Felt minimal pain last night, but waking up this morning I can certainly feel some soreness. Perhaps another day off?

Weights really weren't hurt by it though. Started over with most exercises including 135 with the cables instead of 140 (which I'll be at next time) as was planned. Crammed in some incline press and 50's were done with ease. Ground Base Jumper machine is great.

Dosage = 4 caps, 2 am/2 pm

It's hard to tell that my weights have gone up because of my injury, but I've been able to do some things the past week that I haven't previously done. Rack deadlifted 500 pounds last week, hit 225 pendlays with ease... Things are going well.

Has this stuff you're taking resulted in any weight (scale weight) gains or is it just for increased strength? How'd you like holding a quarter ton in your hands?

Posted by: timdull2

Sorry to hear about the shoulder distress. Mine bother me too when I over do it on the bench. To me, flat bench is a bit overrated. I've moved to doing it with dbs, or just doing inclines instead. Perhaps doing those might help you? But I would agree with you on rest. When I have an injury, I don't like to work anything too hard. Sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and go for lighter weight/higher reps instead just to keep yourself in the game.

Good luck with the healing process. Hope all is going well with the MFX!

I weighed myself almost daily last week during Spring Break and I think I did notice some weight gain. For whatever reason, I usually end up under 150 after my workout, but with this stuff I was staying above that number.

As far as strength goes, unlike my changes in weight which could be the result of more/less water, I'm 100% certain it's helped me out some. I wish it could be helping me out on my bench, but I really couldn't tell you because I haven't been able to go that heavy. I will say, the week I first got the injury, I couldn't touch 225 for a single, and last week hit it with ease.

Straps or not, that's a hell of a lot of weight. It felt incredible.

My scheduled bench day tomorrow involves quite a bit of dumbbell work, so I'm one step ahead of you in that regard.

Nonetheless, I'm starting to realize that instead of getting all pissy and not being able to do the heavy stuff I want to do, I need to stay in the right frame of mind and just hit the light weights just as hard.

All is going well with the MFX, keep following.

ME Deadlift/Squat
The Workout (best sets):

Strapless deadlifts = 365x1, 405x1
Weighted chins = 135x.9, 115x3, 90x5
T-Bar rows = 4 plates x 5
Leg press = 360x5, 450x5, 500x3

The Dosage:

- 2 servings of MassFX (9am, 9pm)

Thoughts:

I have yet to unpack, so my straps were buried in my suitcase, so I figured I'd just save the hassle of putting all my shit away and just trying to set a PR deadlifting clean. My hands were being ripped apart, but I was still able to pull 365 and 405 for singles without straps which was excellent.

The leg press was incredible, going for 5 reps, is a lot different than going to 20 reps which I've done a couple times in the last month.

I wanted to try 225 (5 plates) on the T-bar row machine but opted not to. Once this shoulder goes away, which it seems like it is, I'll be setting some PR's without a doubt in my mind.

I was sooo close from getting my chin above the bar with three plates dangling between my legs.

All and all, a fun day. I took my dosages at nearly identical times which is exactly what I try to do from day to day which was a plus as well.

Running tonight, and then a tough ME Bench day tomorrow. Wish me luck.

The Workout = None

The Supplements = 4 caps (3pm, 12am)

The? Thoughts = So I slept for the longest I think I've ever slept for yesterday, which goes to show how hard it was for me to wake up at 8AM every morning last week for work. I slept from some time around 3AM to 3PM. Probably took the 2 caps at more like 330 after I had a bowl of oatmeal, but still... I'm feeling less and less pain, another chest day today, and I'm not going to go heavy just for the sake of going heavy, I'm going to stay smart and do what my shoulder allows me to do (for the time being).

Write-up later, basketball all day, yes!

Workout = ME Bench; tried some new things out as I explained back on Thursday before I went. I didn't do a normal Maximum Effort day because I haven't allowed my shoulder to recovery properly maxing out once per week. Instead I opted for a lot of dumbbell work (which doesn't give my shoulder any pain at all) and it really paid off. Strong day today, was able to try out the Upright Rows again (something I hadn't been able to do a week ago with how sore my shoulder was).

Dosage = 2AM/2PM

Thoughts = To be perfectly honest, it's been hard to gauge whether or not this supplement is working because I haven't been able to see/make any gains on the bench because of my shoulder. With that said, I rack deadlifted 500 pounds two weeks ago, a weight I haven't held in my hands since... well since I took a leak earlier that morning. Jokes aside, at this point, it's a good (borderline, great) product, but not as much of a necessity as creatine is IMHO.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Friday, March 21st 2008

Workout = DE Squat/Deadlift; Awesome workout here last Friday. Tried cable squats which I was new to, as well as this leg curl machine/hyperextension machine that just destroyed my lower back. I'm really starting to become a religious Leg Press user, mainly because I've been doing 20 rep sets. When you're able to gather your thoughts and breath at the top of the motion, it becomes easier to amass more reps with a heavier weight. Either way, 20 rep anything is brutal. Was able to do full on barbell curls without pain, same goes for shrugs. I'd really love to utilize the last half of this bottle of MassFX with a completely recovered shoulder so I can give SMMuscle a more accurate diagnosis of what I think.

Dosage = 2AM

Thoughts = I took only 2 in the AM because my friend came to visit and I didn't want to throw in 2 more later that night after I had already started drinking. Took only 2 in the AM on Saturday as well, which will probably be my "maintenance" dosage on days that I'll be drinking.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Sunday, March 23rd 2008

Workout = DE Bench; Truly had a fun day yesterday. Didn't get started until late, but my 24 hour gym is made for that very purpose. I had the place to myself last night from about 9 to 10. Because it was so late in the night, I decided not to take anything before my workout. Usually, if I don't have NO-Xplode or some other type of energy/focus enhancer, I'll atleast go to the store and grab a coffee, but I didn't want to have a coffee that late at night. It was weird, I definitely noticed a huge difference in my own personal mental focus compared to when I'm using a stimulant or not, but it's good to know that I'm not 100% in need of a supplement boost preworkout.

Dosage = 2AM/2PM

Thoughts = I didn't even realize I made increases yesterday because I usually don't try to do that on my DE days, but I did heavier sets of 10 with skullcrushers, went up to 140 as planned with the band benching, and hit some very respectable numbers on the cable crossover (shoulders) that I looked up yesterday. Got a huge ME day today, lets set some PR's squatting!

Posted by: timdull2

Sounds like things are going quite good for you, bro! If you really want to, you could probably up the dose to 6/ED. Take 2 pre-w/o and it should help you even more. Just spread the rest of the doses out like you have been doing. It'll shorten the length of the bottle, but that's up to you.

Any problems, let me know! Go hard, go heavy, and don't get hurt!! (Watch that shoulder!!!!!)

Posted by: soxmuscle

Minus the shoulder, everything is grand. It's just that shoulder has a lot to do with weightlifting.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Monday, March 24th 2008

Workout = ME Squat/Deadlift; had some funky numbers going today. I must've left my straps at home because I can't seem to find them, but I'm kind of enjoying training without them. I'm certainly not lifting as much weight, but my grip strength seems to be improving because of it, and it's only been a week since I've been back and haven't used them. Squatted pretty heavy today but wasn't able to touch the box with 315. The box I used pretty much made it so I was going ass to the ground, it was about half as high as a normal bench, so instead of going to parallel with 315 and busting out 3, I tried to go ass to the ground and see if I could do it. I'm not to disappointed with myself, 285 for three reps touching that damn box killed me, I almost didn't expect to get 315 which is probably why I gave up when I was hovering above the box. Oh well, next time. I also had 115 dangling between my legs and was able to get three reps doing weighted chins. As soon as I put that third plate between my legs though, I could only do the one that I did last week. I will say, that it felt lighter this week than it did last week. I expect to be chin-upping my body weight in no time. Everything else was great, took a little longer than usual but that happens when I'm waiting a couple minutes inbetween sets of Squats, SLDL's, Weighted Chin-ups, and Hammer Strength rows. I do half as much, but my maximum effort days last just as long as my dynamic effort days, not that there's anything wrong with that...

Dosage = 2AM/2PM

Diet = I wanted to add this portion today because I really slacked over the weekend, from about Thursday on. When I got back from break, I had a few things that I brought from home back to school, but I tried to stretch about 2-3 days worth of food into an entire week and I lost. I ate out at Chipotle, at Penn Station, at this local restaurant twice.. and let me tell you, I noticed a huge difference in terms of my performance in the gym. Thankfully, I didn't put it off and I was able to go grocery shopping tonight!

The Workout = Plyometrics, cardio; So I've been looking into this Plyometrics routine and finally put it to work. I was tired, sore (from yesterday) but I was able to run a 7:13 mile as well. I started off at 7.5mph on the treadmill and when I realized that I wasn't pushing myself hard enough went up to 8.5, then 9.5, and then 10 for the final tenth of the mile. Next time I'll start out at 8mph and go from there. I'm hoping to improve my mile pretty drastically, is 6:30 by the end of the summer a reasonable goal? I think so. As far as the Plyometrics goes, everything was great. I've got a pretty nice starting vertical jump, I'm hoping to improve that just as much this summer. Ended the night by sitting in the sauna for a while sweating like a dog.

The Dosage = 2 @ 8AM/2 @6PM

Thoughts = I'm starting to notice some real rapid recovery times, way better than when I was using creatine in the past. Love it.

Wednesday, March 26th 2008

Workout = ME Chest; great day, books in the car though.

Dosage = 2 @ 8AM, 2 @ 4PM, 2@2AM

Posted by: soxmuscle

Thursday, March 27th 2008

The Workout = DE Squat/Deadlift; a little more fresh in my head - completed 20 rep squats again, this time 4 sets of 250 pounds on the leg press. Solid improvement. Also Hammer Curled for the first time in a while.

Dosage = 2 @ 12PM

Posted by: soxmuscle

Friday, March 28th 2008

Workout = 12 oz. curls

Dosage = 2 @ 3PM

Posted by: soxmuscle

Saturday = 2 caps
Sunday = 2 caps @ 2:30PM, 2 caps @ 12:30AM
Monday = 2 caps @ 9AM, 2 caps @ 11PM

So I've had two amazing workouts the last two days, but my shoulder continues to bug me. It's really unfortunate for myself and the people wanting to see if this product truly works because I really haven't been able to go up in weight as much as I would have had I been 100% the last couple of weeks.

I will say though, this product truly does "work." Not only do I believe I've gained strength, I saw myself do 405 cold (w/o straps) deadlifting yesterday when a little over a week ago I couldn't do that. I also saw me do 5 reps on the weighted chin-ups of 100 pounds when (if you look back at my journal) I wasn't able to do one full rep of 135 last week.

Also, while my pushing numbers have been lessened because of the injury, I'm finding that workout to workout, weights that I was doing only days earlier are suddenly easier to do. For instance, I hit 7 reps on a set of incline dumbbell press of 50 pounds, falling short of the "required" 10. I vividly remember that set. However, on Sunday night (after a weekend of drinking) I went in and hit 10 reps easily.

Another thing I'm noticing and probably the "best" (depends on how you interpret it) thing about it is that "Alpha-male" mentality that I had joked about since getting the product. I would be hanging out with my friends and I'd find stuff would come to my head that was just totally unlike me. My roommate would say something about some sports team and in my head my thought process was that of a close-minded prick as I immediately shot it off as if what he said was bullshit. Then I began to think about it (silently of course), about just how weird and uncharacteristic of me that reaction was. I'm probably a know-it-all about sports to some here, but I've always felt one thing about my knowledge of sports was that I was short and to the point (like Iain's penis) and that was why people loved to talk with me about sports. Going along with that feeling, I truly felt like many people have said about steroids, that you feel like a god amongst men, which to be perfectly honest isn't a feeling I enjoyed as much as I thought.

I'm going to finish up the bottle, give my true diagnosis of the product as I said I would, but if it was something I purchased with my own money, I'd have stopped taking it by now because of how well it's worked/done what it said it was going to do.

I've got a deep massage therapy here at 12:30, doing a little homework, hopefully will get a run/plyometrics in before the massage as well.

Posted by: soxmuscle

End review of the supplement:

MassFX was a good product and I could feel it "working," I just don't think it helped me in the least at the gym.

It's hard to explain how it was working, if it didn't do anything for me in the gym. Basically, I was hornier, I was more insecure, and little things would irritate me that now wouldn't irritate me in the least.

I loved the confident feelings I had while on it, but again, I almost felt like I was doing things that I wouldn't normally do had I not taken the product.

I apologize for not sticking with this review, it's just the Alpha Male bullshit was too much for me.

Overall, the product worked. I could feel it working. I just simply didn't like the end result.
