So hockey is fourth behind baseball, football and basketball amongst the four major sports, but you gotta love playoff hockey... right?

East:

#1 Montreal vs. #8 Boston
#2 Pittsburgh vs. #7 Ottawa

#1 Detroit vs. #8 Nashville

I stopped watching hockey after the strike a few years ago but this season has sparked interest again since the Bruins are playing well. I love seeing the Bruins and Habs go at it but the Habs have been owning them for several years. It's time to change this around!

In other NHL news, there are some excellent series going on. Overtime games a plenty, competitive series, parody in the league... It's a great year for the NHL Playoffs.. If only I could watch the games...

There have been horseshit calls including a ridiculous penalty call in overtime in game 2 that gave the Habs the 2 man advantage.. in fucking overtime! swallow the refs like you swallow cock you stupid fucks!

Outside of those two early goals in game 1 (something all to familiar with Tim Thomas at times) the Bruins have played with them all series.

Carey Price is a complete stud. We're seeing the next Roy and as bad as this is to say coming from a Bruins fan, I'll be rooting for him once they beat the Bruins in seven.. ha..

I'm not nearly as confident on the road as I was Saturday at home, but IMO all the pressure is on Montreal.

If they lose, this team will be known as the team that made Bruins hockey relevant again.

If they win, I'll be ecstatic and not only will they have made hockey relevant again, but they will have upset the #1 seeded Canadiens who they had lost 13 straight to. Truly incredible...

It's interesting - I almost expect the Celts to do their thing in the playoffs and anything but the best is a disappointment. With this team, I expected nothing and these three wins have been roller coaster rides of emotion.

If you watched Saturdays game, there isn't a doubt in my mind that people would be drawn in. Gotta love playoff hockey...

Again, like I said earlier today... their is zero disappointment in this team. It just sucks its over... What a tease..

If you had told me without Patrice Bergeron for the entire series, without Kessel for three games (a healthy scratch and I'm not talking about scratching my head) and Zdeno Chara playing with a torn labrum... I don't even know if whats before this makes sense, but shit, this team should have never been in this series at all.

Basically, I compare it to the Hawks forcing seven games with the Celts.

I love Carey Price and you got to respect Saku Koivu and some other Canadiens, but the way the majority of this team plays is downright pathetic.

How many diving calls were called in the NHL all season? I'd be shocked if Montreal didn't have more in this serious than the entire NHL had all season.

These playoffs are shaping up quite nicely. Aside from Detroit on the verge of sweeping the Colorado Homos, Anaheim is out, New Jersey is out, the Rangers about to get swept, as is San Jose.

Now we just need Dallas to get eliminated next round, then I won't care who wins the Cup (but obviously I'll be pulling for my Wings).

Philly is surprising me. I figured they were another year away. They have played well, and got a lot and I mean a ridiculous amount of bounces. But Montreal doesn't attack the net, or cause any trouble in front of Biron.

By no means am I saying that 350 pounds is a number I work up to regularly, in fact I'm not sure I'd be able to get that right now, but that doesn't mean I haven't done it in the past.

But yea, it is 2008.. I'm sure I could get my hands on a camera.. I'll get that done this summer.

Yea, the game was truly an awesome one though. So many times I thought it was over, thats what playoff hockey is all about.

Don't like Detroit, don't hate Dallas, so I guess I'm rooting for Dallas.

It would be great for the NHL if Crosby and the Penguins were in the cup, but I don't want him to win one this early in his career. On the other hand, I think Doublebase is a faggot and I don't want his hometown Flyers (who he knows nothing about) to win either.

The Dallas fans have a ritual where they stand the entire game, or at least thats what TSN/Versus was saying last night... the fact that they were able to stand for just about 7 full periods of hockey is pretty darn cool in my book.

Nope don't have a problem. This is a team sport. The team is performing well.

Dynasty I doubt, alot of parody in the league. And Detroit is probably the favorite.

Also, remember the influence Salary cap will have, Hossa will be gone after this season which is a huge blow. And in a couple of years free agency kicks in for these kids, Pitts simply won't be able to afford to keep them all.

Fluery played outstanding, but has also let in some weak goals, and tends to let out a lot of rebounds. I would say that favours Detroit. And as long as Malkin and Crosby keep playing like shit, they don't have a chance.

One of the better hockey games I've seen in some time, but like Iain said, Detroit wiped the floor with them regardless of the result. Truly a special performance by Fleury, but the Red Wings are winning this series..

Congrats to Detroit 4th cup in eleven years. However they should have one this series in 4 games.

Pittsburgh wasn't even close to the same level. Hopefully Crosby and Malkin learned something from this, cause I though they looked horrible in the Stanley cup.

The Penguins were completely overmatched in this series and as Iain said, they should have been swept.

Obviously game five was a treat, but I hate teams winning the Cup on the away teams ice. Damn those 'guins!

Well no team stays on top forever. And the franchise, as well as me as a fan, endured some lousy years in the 80's.

Yep the 80's they sucked pretty bad.

They have surrounded themselves with good management, and make some good decisions. Everyone keeps saying they are soo old, but they continue to develop younger players, like Zetterberg and Datsyuk.

I wish the leafs would do the same
