Are other PT's going to be able to use that forum?

I'm just making sure that other certified trainers will be able to promote themselves in the new section that seems to have appeared. I'm building an online training site right now and would love to be able to promote it through IronMag.

Posted by: w8lifter

We will be making an announcement regarding the new forum shortly, however, it will be a private forum not open to other PT's nor the general public.

Posted by: w8lifter

ponyboy, once your site is up, you can add a link to it in your sig similar to ours and gopro's

Posted by: ponyboy

I just wanted to make sure that the forum wasn't only going to be a marketing thing for DpW8's online services. If that is the case, having it put right out there like that on a public forum isn't right, IMO. Of course we should all be able to promote ourselves, but others have just as much of a right to do it if you guys do.

To me, it would be like walking into a gym and only having one trainer who is allowed to promote themselves on a bulletin board, etc. You may know that the others are there, but that person gets quite an advantage by having their services publicly displayed for all who happen by. Why not just have a link to your training site as a banner instead? We could create a trainer site links area where you guys, myself, GoPro, and others could post links to their respective sites.

I'm just concerned it's going to bring a sense of isolation into the forums, which is what personally I am here to avoid.

Posted by: w8lifter

ponyboy, perhaps you should w8 for the announcement!

My workouts need help. Who do I contact, muchacha?

Posted by: ponyboy

I guess I'm jumping the gun...I guess I'll "w8" as you've suggested

Posted by: Duncan

I see no problem with it. Although, I must say, Team DPw8 gave me the clap.

Shouldn't it be at my descretion whether other PT's are allowed to promote or be aprt of the online PT services on this board? If you walked into a gym wouldn't they have to hire you first before you could work as a PT?

The current plan is for w8lifter and DP to work as PT's here at IronMagazine.com Forums, if other trainers inquire about working here, it will be taken under consideration.

I don't really agree with having only those two as the trainers. Mind you, I don't know what kind of agreement has been established between both parties involved. Also, it's not my site.
It's Princes site and he can do whatever he damn well pleases.
Although keeping only two tainers and not letting the flock grow will only make the smart people more aware that business is coming first before service.

Key point here buddy. None of us do at this stage so lets just wait til it`s open.

Posted by: Prince

We fully intend to, and have been, still helping out the way we always have been. Some have hired us to become their "personal trainer" or "nutritional consultant"....our clients get a lot more attention from us...complete & detailed meal plans, customized training programs, daily support & motivation...all the things one would get from a PT at a gym. The major difference now is that our paying clients come first and they get a lot more out of us, as would be expected when someone pays for a service.

Training someone thousands of miles aways can be done, although it can be rather difficult at times, which is why we will be having private forums for our clients. When we go to gather information from a clients journal, we have to wade through dozens of chit-chat posts to find a single post w/ their training or meals, we have dozens of emails and pm's back and forth, it's easy to lose things and not very organized. The private forums will act as their journals w/o all the crap in it. Everything will be in one place, easily viewed at a glance, we will be able to post everything there...no more lost pm's back and forth...which is especially difficult because Team DPw8 are thousands of miles apart as well...everything has to be forwarded to the other first before being answered, makes for a lot of unnecessary work.

Specifically how the forums will work is, each client will have their own private forum...accessed only by themselves and us (and Prince of course)...they will not be able to see another clients forum, only their own. There will also be one general forum for the discussion of training/nutrition/competition topics related to their programs but non-specific to their case....all paid clients will have access to this forum. So as you can see there really is no need for others to become upset, and worried about separation of the board, as was brought up by ponyboy I believe.... it's simply a means for us to communicate effectively and efficiently w/ our clients and provide the best service we possibly can.

That's an excellent idea!! I have missed out on some answers do do too many posts in my diary. Can't wait til its up

Posted by: Prince

it's up now.

I don't care for it, but i like W8lifter so i'll keep schtum.

Personally, i'd never charge someone for advice or information if they asked me for it.

you would if that was your profession, i.e. lawyer, personal trainer, & many others.

Posted by: Robboe

In relation to weightlifting and nutrition.

Posted by: Prince

yeah, but if you made a living as a personal trainer, dietician or nutritionist you would.

I think w8lifter and DP are 100% within their rights to accept payment for their advice/information. If people seek them out for their expertise, they should be compensated for that. That is their reward for the knowledge they have acquired through years of dedication to the sport and lifestyle of bodybuilding (and making it their profession).

But... Just like lawyers do pro bono work on the side (free work for people who cannot pay), I'm sure w8lifter and DP will continue to provide the rest of us outstanding advice, when their daily schedules and time contraints permit.

But I see your point, Chicken Daddy.

I don't understand why some people feel they have a "right" to free help when it comes to forums and professionals who visit them.

I run a MMA club and I don't worry about whether my business practices are "fair" to my competitors. If I give people on forums info, it's general in nature and if they want more detailed and specific help, they PAY to come and train with me. Many times I will intentionally "steal" students away from my competitors by encouraging my students to visit other clubs. When the other people see my students they often ask where we train, and sure enough, we will get a couple new guys. It's business, and there is no fair/unfair in business. McDonalds doesn't worry if Burger King's feelings will be hurt before they unveil some new promotional idea.

I'm also a IERT member at the prison I work at and my employers don't expect me to quell disturbances, protect staff, etc for free. I'm paid for my expertise.

I see no difference here. Ironmag, w8lifter and DP thought of a new idea to interact with thier clients and they should be commended for thier insight.

JMHO

As far as I am concerned this is a no brainer. If I ask a simple question like is protein good then w8, DP or anyone else can put their 2 cents in, but if I ask w8 or DP to come up with a diet plan or a workout plan drawn up specifically for me that takes some of their time. I wouldn't dream of not paying them. That is what they do, what difference does it make if it is on the internet.

Now there is a much much more important issue at hand here. One of the first things my trainer wants is pictures, so if TeamDPw8 asks for pictures of their clients I think the pictures should be made available for us all, especially if they involve bikinis.

Oh my word, oh thank you thank you. WOW, w8 that is fantastic

I am just enjoying this for awhile, wow.

Hey!
Looking great as always...but I thought the order was for a bikini!
Now get back in there and find one!

I'm sorry mmafiter, but if she had peanut butter all over her I would have noooo trouble licking it all off.

Posted by: Burner02

o-o-o-ok.....I think my vision just became impaired.....

that's SO much better!

Posted by: J'Bo

Wow, w8 you look like a million bucks.

Posted by: mmafiter

I actually like the other picture better. The whole back arched, raised buttocks, and the "ready for a good shag" look does it for me everytime.

With heels and garters she looks even better! Growl......Oh behave baby!

You know, if I wasn't such a selfish bastard I'd let w8 post pictures of her in her heels and garters so you could see for yourselves.......but that's not gonna happen so suffer suckers!

Posted by: Burner02

not even for $5.00?
C'mon, I'd offer more...but I AM on a budget...

Posted by: craig777

I have to agree with you mmafiter, the first one was absolutely awesome. When I brought that up my jaw hit the floor.

Now w8 don't go getting a big head or anything.

$5.00!?!? $5.00!?!? You sir, have insulted my moral fiber and I am shocked by your lack of tact and class!

Add another zero to that figure and we can talk like gentlemen, until then sir, good-day to you.

Posted by: Burner02

you're right. No tact. I forgot to say 'please'

Ever thought about auctioning off the pic to the highest bidder?
damn...there goes the no class thing either.....

Posted by: craig777

Hot damn, pics of w8 in only garters and heels for $50.00. I'm not on a budget. Where do I send the money.

Now once I get the pics can I sell them to others and make a profit on her.

Just messing with you w8.

Posted by: w8lifter

$5.00?! ....

It's not so much that i'm against them selling services, cause i'm not. Good for them infact.

But this is initially a public forum and this has changed that aspect somewhat. It's like saying "we have all the info, but we're only gonna tell you some of it for free - despite us ourselves learning a lot of this for free in the years we've been training."

I have gotten a lot of info from the net and from reading for free and from others on public forums helping me for free. I'm gonna continue the trend.

Like i said, i'm all for them going into PT, but using the board directly like this...

(I can't currently think of the right words i wanna use right now, but i'll edit or post in here later).

TCD...the difference here is that we are more comprehensive w/ our clients than the forums.....We would never design a program down to the T's....and then deal with all of the correspondence involved....in the forums. We never did that before the new forums....so there's really no difference in the amt of information we share on the board.

Chicken Baby....why don't you just sign up for a month so we can show you the difference and how it works .....I'm just kidding.....don't even go there, lol.

TCD, this is no wbig deal.....and your comments were handy but there is a 'Key" point amongst all the rest to be made her!

NOTHING IS FREE!

When a person "thinks" there are receiving FREE information.....someone is paying for the....let's call it "eduacation!"

Here, PRINCE foots the bills! I know many are appreciative, but there are also many who ARE NOT! This board requires TIME, MONEY and ENERGY to maintain and constantly raise it's standards, quality and level of services! And.........

While nobody should be concerned about our business relationship w/Prince....ALL should know that it BENEFITS IM! That should be enough in itself!!!

DP

Posted by: kuso

As long as w8 keeps posting bikkini pics in the OPEN forum, then I`m all for it

Posted by: mmafiter

Posted by: Prince

TCD, the board is still free, and there is still going to be "expert" advice as always.

The personal training option (as w8lifter explained) is for those people that would like individual attention, specific/customized diet and training plans made for just them. As well as a private area to discuss their training where no one else can see it. This type of attention is not given any where on the net for free (or in real life), not to this extent.

And as DP said, nothing is free! I front all of the money to run this site out of my own pocket, and in order for the site to handle the growth it takes more money to cover the web hosting costs.

I see a lot of people that try and start boards because they think it's cheap and easy to do. Once they get into it they realize that it takes more than a $10 per month hosting package, and around 40-50 hours of work per week. And even that does not guarantee that your board will be successful.

If I would have known the amount of money and work involved before I started IM I may not have built it!

How much of the cut are you getting then?
