I've done some online calculators and they seem way off. I just got done with about a somewhat clean bulk and I'm cutting now (shooting for 10%). Here's a pic before my bulk and after. Could you guys/gals give me a little help with about what my percentage is before and after so I can get an idea about what kind of weight I'll need to shed. Thanks!
Before Bulk - 162 lbs
After Bulk - 180 lbs
Welcome to IM. You can't tell by looking at pics, sorry

Well I did a squeeze test and it came out to a little over 6% and I know that's not right. Did an online calculator with waist size and weight and i was around 18%. So who knows.
just by looking and knowing what myself and some of my buds have been before I'd guess you were at about 6-7% bf

It's still telling me I'm around 6%. That's not right. They must have screwed up the caliper measurements.

Maybe in that first pic but what I am now (second and third pic) is quite a bit higher and it's telling me 6%. I'd say I'm atleast 11-12% now.

no more than 8-9%, I am positive on that

Listen, call it 11% and be done with it - it'll be close enough.
You probably want to get down to what, about 6% or so?
How long did you bulk by the way - you're still lean as hell! Nice work!

yeh, nice work gix
how long have you been bulking?

Who really cares what the number is? Do you like the way you look? If so, great. If not, do something about it and to hell with the bf%'s.

The only thing I find helpful about knowing bodyfat percentage is it helps plan the duration of the cut. I've had a full-body DEXA done at three different percentage bodyfat levels - end of cut, end of bulk, and in between.
I know roughly when delt veins emerge (for me, about 17%), when ab veins appear (closer to 15%)... so I take my weight at whatever point I'm at and guesstimate the bodyfat percentage, I know the approx LBM.
If I know the approx LBM and divide by (1-desired bodyfat%), I know what weight I need to hit. This tells me how many pounds I need to drop. I know from experience I don't like to drop faster than about a half to a third of a pound a week, so the number of pounds tells me my timeline.
For example, I'm currently 137 lbs, and about 17% bodyfat (possibly 16%). Call it 16.5%. This means I have about 114 lbs lean mass.
If I want to get to 10% bodyfat, I divide 114 by (1-10%)
114/0.9 = 127
So I assume (which may be foolish, but it's how I fly) that I neither gain nor lose lean mass because I diet and train very carefully - and proceed to diet slooowly down to 127 lbs.
If I'm more muscular than I think I am, well, I just look shredded a little earlier than I thought I would!
