Do I need to worry about getting glass shards in a newly opened amp? Do I need to buy a filtering needle and if so where can I find them?

filter needles arent a bad idea. most likely get them at your local medical supply center.

Always afraid of the idea but it never happened, snap it quick and you'll have no problems. The filter will absorb the entire contents of the amp leaving you with nothing.
I dont even use an amp breaker or score the amp neck (used to though), I just use my thumbs and snap.
