i was just wandering how bad it is to drink alchohol on a training day. For example the other day i worked out in the gym midday then at night i had a few cans of beer. Will this slow down my recovery? Also i've started takin zma before bed so will taking this on top of alchohol stop it workin as well. Usually about once a week i'll get really drunk. Does this effect my training, also if i get wasted after i have been training in the morning will this affect me?
Thanks'
AC

Damn, caught me hehehehe, yeah I was talkin to myself ac.
How much is to much? Well it would depend on the person for one. I use to go out drinking on weekends back when I was 18, just try to drink as much water with your booze so you don't dehydrate so much.

One beer per day is okay, it's actually supposed to be healthy!

Scotty's right .. just remember to stay hydrated, and watch that blood pressure.
As long as you don't get wasted more than once a week (everybody gets a day off, better booze than McDonalds).
Then again, you might wanna spend saturday morning in the gym .. lots of hung-over-boyfriends-singles-for-a-morning girls hang out there. The early bird catches the worm, geddit ?

Do you work out ?

the alochol will un-align amino acids which makes it more diffucult for the muslce to grow
atleast i think

Indeed you're right.
Alcohol will interfere with the way amino acids line up for protein synthesis. A study by Biochem (457-73) proved that it may decrease protein synthesis by +/- 20%, even in moderate amount. Also will it block the working of IGF-1.
Basic lesson here: wanna loose the beer belly ? Then put down the f*cking beer!

alcohol definitely interferes with recovery and growth - i forgot why, but i remember reading this in two instances in a muscle mag

i just found out what it was, alcohol supresses IGF-1 and therefore interferes with growth.
