2 weeks off!?

I've had to take two weeks off from my usual diet and havnt been to a gym once because I went on holiday but I feel like I have lost muscle mass. Thinking it might be just psychological lol but going gym tomorrow to see if I have lost any strength?

With 2 weeks off will I have lost much muscle mass in reality?

Thanks for your comments

physiologically speaking you havent lost muscle mass, but with two weeks off you may feel a little weaker. You never know tho, cuz sumtimes a week or two off allow the body to recover so u may feel rested and stronger!

If I ever miss that length of time, I always come back to the gym feeling weaker. The good news, is that muscle has amazing memory. since u havent missed a signifigant amount of time, u should be back to full speed within 1-3 workouts. For me though, I definitely notice a (minimal) loss in strength.

I don't think two weeks off will have any impact on your muscle mass unless your diet has been really poor (i.e. not eating enough).

2 weeks is nothing. Don't worry about it.

I've skipped training for 4 weeks before and still come back and lifted where I left off. As Kent said, your diet is more crucial than a couple of weeks - did you skip eating properly too? If so you'll notice a difference but generally 2 weeks is just generous recovery time.

Second what everyone said. Actually a few studies I've read suggest that it takes six weeks before you'd start to see any measurable muscle loss. Assuming you're not starving.

However, there is a significant drop in neuromuscular impulse conduction, and thus in strength.

Luckily, it comes back within a few workouts. So get back in the gym and don't worry about it. You'll be back where you were in a week.
