Should Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame?

(CLICK HERE here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: ALBOB

I say Hall of Fame is status should be awarded for accomplishments ON the field. What he may or may not have done didn't have anything to do with his performance as a player and he should be in the Hall.

Posted by: hurtyhair4u

Totally agree . The man deserves it but due to PC's overwhelming influance in our society it probably won't ever happen ( at least not soon )

Posted by: ALBOB

OK Mr. Moderator, looks like I'm gonna need the help of your super powers. I wanted to make this a poll but forgot to hit that button before submitting the thread and now I'm being told I can't delet this thread and start over. Care to help a brother out.

Posted by: bigss75

Yes . All they are doing is trying to make an example out of him which is total b.s. to me.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Sorry Albob, I can not add a poll to a thread if a poll does not already exists. You could always start a new thread.

Ya big dummy.

Pete Rose absolutely deserves to be in the Hall.

Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. .... But then again, I think I should be too.

Posted by: ZECH

absolutely! No doubt!

Well DUH. Your 619 career homers and 3200 hits are fine stats. Too bad that whole "I threw the World Series for some protein powder" thing is biting you in the ass.

That was my original thought but I thought it would be kind of dumb to start a new one while this one was still up. "Then delete this one ya' big dummy", I hear you thinking. I tried but got a message that I wasn't authorized to delete this thread. Color me confused . Anyway, upon careful inspection and precise calculations it looks like it's 100% in favor of Charlie Hustle getting inducted.

What!?!! Holy mother of all that is holy and mother, Pete Rose is EARWAX in drag! I can't seem to get any respect since I lost that bet with Pete Rose.

Anyway, if Selig wanted to break out a little from his current unpopularity he could try to reinstate Pete.

Posted by: david

Absolutely he should be in the Hall of Fame. There is no question about it. Look at all these other famers in other sports and the crap they've pulled but they weren't held back!

Posted by: kuso

What did he do to keep him out of it?

Posted by: ShaqFu

I think that'd be a great idea for Selig to save some face. Pete Rose was the best hitter of all time!

3/4 of the guys in that league are on steroids and cocaine anyway! Including the ones already inducted. Even Michael Jordan admittedly has a gambling problem!

a) He says he's innocent and you can't prove otherwise
b) Even if he is guilty he should be in that Hall anyway!

Posted by: ShaqFu

Kuso, Pete's not in the Hall of Fame because he's been accused of betting money on baseball games that he played in.

Seems stupid eh?

Posted by: kuso

Does seem kinda stupid.......I guess if he was betting to win, no prob....betting to lose may be.

The biggest fiasco is the he agreed with the Baseball Commissioner at the time, Bart Giamatta, to plead guilty so that he could do a certain probation time and then be inducted into the Hall. Lo and behold, Giamatta up and dies and his good friend...................**$HIT, I can't think of his name**........takes over as Commissioner and says, "NO WAY!" "Pete's never getting in. We're gonna ban him from baseball forever as a tribute to Giamatta." Do you see the logic? Neither does anybody in this country. The poor bastard was/is one of the greatest players to have ever lived and now he's not even allowed to go to a stadium to watch a game. Just one more reason BASEBALL SUCKS!!!!!

True, but to clarify, he was accused of betting against his own team when he was the manager.

Posted by: farout

NO NO No, Pete was a great player.Too bad he was a bad boy and could not go along with the rules.-true ,he bet to WIN, but could have just as easily bet his team would lose. He was guity. A felon who has served his time in prison lose some liberties when he is released such as voting and owning a fire arm.So Pete loses his liberty of being in the hall.

Posted by: P-funk

yes, he should be in the hall of fame. he is one of the greatest ever. he played like a mad man and he deserves to be honored for his play on the field.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Holy shit...OLD THREAD ALERT!

Posted by: largepkg

Yes, but he should not be reinstated to baseball.

Posted by: oaktownboy

lol this farout guy has 1 post and decided to bump a thread 5 years old...lol..I wonder how much searching he had to do to dig this up.

Posted by: BoneCrusher

Without a doubt. He's one of the top 10 players ever. He EARNED it!!!

Posted by: MeatZatk

I love watching the clip of him running over the catcher in the all star game! Could you imagine any of the present day pussies doing that? No, they'd stop halfway down the baseline and start laughing or hugging the catcher. Pete Rose played the game harder than anyone, and for that alone he should be in.

Posted by: tucker01

absolutely in the hall.

Posted by: soxmuscle

For his baseball accomplishments, yes.

Posted by: min0 lee

Without a doubt, Mr. Charlie Hustle made the most out of his talent.

Posted by: emitecaps

His career stats demand he be in the HOF. But his arrogance and refuisal to show any remorse for his acts, mostly the gambling will ensure he won't be in there anytime soon. Unless he becomes a bit more humble he won't be in the HOF until after he dies. They'll put him in posthumously so he can't gloat about it.

Posted by: min0 lee

Pete Rose humble? Never.

Posted by: BoneCrusher

I suspect he won't get the nod until after he dies.

Posted by: JerseyDevil

I met Pete back in the late 80's and can attest he was ... well sort of an asshole.

That said, he should be in the hall, no doubt. You should be rewarded for on the field play, not banned for bad decisions off. I know it is cliche, but he really did give 110%.
