I just came from the gym. IT was an off day, except for abs (which I'm really trying to get into shape, just nothing there!). But anyways, out of curiosity, I weighed myself on a scale that also measures your body fat. It came in at a whopping 7.2%!!!! I'm thinking oh my god, that's pretty low! My question is, how accurate are these things? It looks pretty high-tech, but I thought it may be a little off.
I weighed 163, but I recently started kickin' up the food intake, so that should change soon. Also, my trainer/friend at the gym today told me to completely cut out cardio for a while. Is this good advice? Will I get fat? I'm eating good. High protein diet with lower fat and sugar. Thanks for all your input!

They are absolutely worthless for measuring anything but change!

Lower fat is not a good idea...and believe it or not...cardio makes me and many others "Fat" (by losing LBM) Remember, Nutrition is everything!
DP
Use these instead.

If you were really 7% you would see most of your abs. The only scale that i know to be quite accurate is a Tanita. The Tanitas are good but arent that accurate when you are below 10%, plus you are supposed to weigh yourself before bed.
P.S Depending upon how fast your metabolism is will determine if you will stay lean without cardio. If you are on a diet like Team DPW8 have posted for a bulking program then you should stay fairly lean. At 7% i hardely think your going to get FAT, maybe rounder and a little softer looking though.

Sweet. Thanks. Maybe when I move to Orlando, and start working out at the gym at UCF, they'll have some of the calipers, rather than a scale. I figure, I'm probably more like 9%-10% rather than 7%.
where can i buy a pair of calipers?
