What about those Steelers?

I have been a big steeler fan since the 70's! Anybody else who loves the black & gOLD?

Posted by: min0 lee

That 70's team was one of the best ever.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Meh mediocre at best this year. There o-line has looked like shit, and Big Ben with any pressure is just awful.

Posted by: IronAddict

That 70's team was the best ever! Big Ben is argueably the best QB, if I was coach he would def. b my QB! How U win has a lot to do with why U win....

Posted by: Double D

You would have Ben over a Peyton or Brady?

Posted by: IronAddict

I would, he is a winner. No matter the O line. Remember when he became the starter, 15-0.!

Posted by: IainDaniel

So what has happened this year... mediocre at best so far. He still has a lot to prove.

Heck I may even give the nod to Cutler, Eli, or Drew Brees over Big Ben.

I saw this show called "Sports Science" on one of those nerd channels and they wanted to see who threw a ball faster: An NFL quarterback or an MLB pitcher. They had Rothlissberger for the QB (can't remember who the pitcher was). Turns out Big Ben actually generates more arm speed and power than the pitcher, but given the dynamics of a football, the football travels slower than a baseball.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Wouldn't that be relative to the resistance of the ball and weight of the ball, that a QB needs to generate more force to move it.

I like tacos.

Posted by: soxmuscle

The Steelers aren't a good team this year.

LOL'D you guy's are funny! Yeah, their O line hasn't quite come together yet, but they are still finding a way to win. That says a lot about their character!

Yeah, Tacos and beer! a great pair like Dolly Parton and a bra...

Posted by: Bradicallyman

Iron.... I liked you until I saw this thread... haha jk! I am a die hard Hawks fan being from Seattle. Even through the bad (last year) and the ugly (this year so far). Damn your Steelers!!! They played a hell of a game on monday though. How weird would that be if they picked up Shaun Alexander? They do need a RB right now and I don't think Ben can carry the team without a running game. Also, Alexander does have a lot to prove after his horrible last few seasons in Seattle.

Posted by: IronAddict

Who says us musicians aren't thinkers! S. alexander huh? interesting? Yeah, he would look good in black and gold!

As bad as he was the last few years, nothing beats a guy with everything in the world to prove. Seattle fans would hate him even more lol. But I hear the Steelers are most likely going to Stick with Moore for right now. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Posted by: IronAddict

Yes, but they do need to acquire another back or two. We will have to wait and see.
Isn't the NFL great?

Posted by: Double D

Ben is the middle of the pack at best.

Posted by: IronAddict

Don't be a hater? Ben won the super bowl faster than those guys! He doesn't have to throw the rock 40 times a game to get the job done. Although, he may have to now, due to the running game. They always make good moves, and this shouldn't be any different.

this isn't being a hater. this is being an objective observer. all things the same I would choose ben maybe 10th or so as quarterback running my team.

Posted by: IronAddict

Damn! I guess the score board doesn't matter. But, oh well. To each his own, the woman said, as she kissed the cow.

Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer won Super Bowls, too.

If your only going by scoreboard there are 3 undefeated teams this year left. and ben isn't quarterbacking any of them.

sure the scoreboard matters, in a team sport. But this is about ben at the moment. and at the moment he is not the reigning super bowl champion. If I were building a team right now around a quarterback Ben would be down the list.

As far as kissing cows go. If you have some animal fetish please keep it to the sexual health forum.

I will not be posting pix of my wife. She is mine, and only mine!
Now, my girlfriend, thats a different story!

I think the Steelers are a good team, especially their defense. And I think Ben is a good QB.

Here is my top ten in order

1.Brady
2.Favre
3.P Manning
4. Rivers
5. Romo
6. Brees
7. Cutler
8. Ben
9. McNabb
10. E Manning

I had difficulty with 4-7

You're implying he's this awesome quarterback because he won a Super Bowl and my point is that even below average quarterbacks can win a Super Bowl.

don't worry. the rest of us got it. regardless of whether he did or not.

he won the super bowl in his second season. woo hoo. dan marino got to the super bowl his second season, but lost. the difference. the steelers team won despite ben. with marino he was the one that got them there to begin with.

I remember interviews about what the coaches were doing to limit the play book in his first few seasons.

Steelers fukin suck. end of story.

Posted by: IronAddict

I in no way ever said Ben was the best QB! This was a Steeler thread, not a Ben thread. But, there it is again, being gregarious!

No way Favre is that high.

When discussing how good a football team is, the subject of QUARTERBACK comes up from time to time.

Posted by: IronAddict

Argueably Bio, Argueably. I know you want to be cantankerous, but I will not be abraded! Nice try though.

Agreed, Ben is a good QB though! That cannot be denied. I guess it can, but that doesn't make it true.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Big difference between good and the best.

So do I bro. Your list is good, maybe I would schuffle some names around, but would def. have those names.

now your just arguing semantics.

"I in no way said Ben was the best QB" coming after "Ben is arguably the best QB" no wonder you want to turn non political threads political.

I'll give him that. things have been a slight bit more interesting with fresh blood this last week

Posted by: IronAddict

Again bio, ARGUEABLY! Don't be so bellicose.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Still a big difference between arguably the best and good.

I know, i know. A lot of you guy's expressed dislike for the steelers. But you gotta admit they do make it exciting!
More than a few of you critized Ben, but again you gotta admit, he is one big, strong and tough guy. He might not always win pretty, but as long as they get the W.
They improved to 4-1. It's still very early and their defense, which used to be a stalwart in pitt. is hurting and leaking like a sithe, this is the secondary i'm speaking of, the LB's are still good. We'll have to wait and see how the season plays out...

Posted by: bio-chem

still a long way to go in the season. they may win there division, but if they don't improve in some areas then it will be a first round loss in the playoffs

Posted by: IronAddict

I do have to agree again with you Bio. There is def. a whole lot to improve on. But, some good points as well.

It is still early, but as things stand they are a playoff caliber team. not a deep one in my opinion, but more and more in the NFL like the MLB and to an extent NBA the team that gets hot in the end of the season is the most dangerous.
