just wanted to say "go cubs go!"

I predict a Red Line World Series with the Cubs sweeping the trashy White Sox.

YouTube - "Go Cubs Go" 2008 Edition

Posted by: IronAddict

Dude, that is 1 hell of a photo. I know, you love your cubs, but those Angels will be a hard team to reckon with!

Posted by: min0 lee

Angels do look good.

I like the White Sox because of Thome and Griffey, it would be nice to see Griffey and Thome excel one last time in the series.

I like the Cubs with Pinella...and just to win it finally.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Brad Lidge almost pulled a Brad Lidge today.

Posted by: IronAddict

These playoffs will be very interesting, indeed! The Thome and Griffey story is a good 1, and I would like to see them advance far in the playoffs. I would even like to see Griffey win a title. In the modern era of sport and the taking of steroids to excel, Griffey has been nothing but a true role model! And guys like that are easy to root for!

Posted by: soxmuscle

That White Sox game last night was incredible. What a freakin' ball game.

Tonight, the Dodgers are rolling as expected.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Oh.. and that Red Sox team I think plays tonight too?

The only one on the White Sox I like is Griffey. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a ring. Can't stand Ozzy though. Their pitching staff is a little bit iffy though. Every series excluding Phillies/Brew Crew (sorry Repro, but I do think the Phils should win easy) is pretty interesting.

Hey, I'm just happy they are in the playoffs and winning!

Posted by: I Are Baboon

I joined a new gym and the cardio machines each have a private TV. Yesterday I was able to watch some of the Phillies/Brewers game while lifting then while on an elliptical machine. Good stuff.

I've got five miles to do on a treadmill this afternoon and the Rays/ChiSox game will be on. It certainly helps make the time go by faster. God damn is indoor cardio boring.

Posted by: ReproMan

Yeah, I usually last for about 15 minutes on a cardio machine until I'm bored out of my mind.

Quote:
Today's Games:
Chicago Sox at Tampa Bay - 2:30 PM - Vazquez vs Shields
Milwaukee at Philadelphia - 6:00 PM - Sabathia vs Myers
LA Dodgers at Chicago Cubs - 9:30 PM - Billingsley vs Zambrano

Posted by: I Are Baboon

I'd like to see Milwaukee and the Cubs tie up those series.

Really if the Red Sox get knocked out, I'll be happy for whoever wins. I've grown to dislike the Rays just a bit during this season, but not enough to root against them.

Posted by: ReproMan

Well, it's looking good for the BoSox now.. If they get to the next level, they might go all the way. I'm still waiting for the Rays to collapse, I don't want them to but I think it's coming.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Boston only needs to split the last four with Anaheim. It's doable.

Tampa is going to be tough. A Boston/Tampa ALCS could get nasty. Those teams do not like each other.

Posted by: ReproMan

I'm praying for a Rays/Phils series personally. I'm in South Florida, so I'd definitely do what I could to get my hands on a ticket or 2. But I wouldn't be shocked to see Boston make it at all.

Recap | Wednesday, October 01
Milwaukee 1 Philadelphia 3

LA Dodgers 7 Chi Cubs 2

Boston 4 LA Angels 1

If it's Boston and the Dodgers in the World Series I will stick a fork in my eyes.

Did you see the game or the highlights? OC comes up with the bases loaded and two out in the 7th, down by 3. The Rays pitcher (can't remember who) may have said something. After the first pitch was thrown, OC kicked some dirt towards the mound and yelled something at the pitcher. OC then strikes out.

I didnt catch the game last night at all. Repeat from last year? Thats going to be the new stir!

Posted by: ReproMan

Things are looking better and better for my Phillies!!

Posted by: IainDaniel

And all those Yanks fans bitching about how the Dodgers are shit, and Torre shouldn't be in the playoffs are certainly holding true

It's nice that the rest of the country now gets to enjoy the genius that is Dennis Eckersley's pre and post-game commentary.

Only 2. The fifth game would be in Chicago.

Posted by: shiznit2169

WOW!! The Redsox absolutely OWN the Angels in the post season. This is ridiculous. 11 in a row against them and the Angels won the regular season series 8-1.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Red Sox better win tonight or they're screwed.

Jon Lester is 11-1 with a 2.50ish ERA at home this season.

Posted by: min0 lee

It must be the plantains....

Cubs have to wait.....

Quote:
Soriano. The $136 million man went 1-for-14 against the Dodgers after going 2-for-14 in last year's NLDS sweep by the Arizona Diamondbacks. In those 28 postseason at-bats with the Cubs, Soriano has eight strikeouts, zero extra-base hits, zero runs and zero RBI.

Posted by: ReproMan

Yay Phillies!!

Posted by: IronAddict

Whew! That was a last night boy! I am glad the Angels got at least one win under their belt. They may still lose the alds, but at least they wont get swept!
I thought the Dodgers were going to be in this position, but that's why they play the games. Who would have thunk it!

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Posted by: IronAddict

Gotta love those mlb playoffs!!! Redsox do own the Angels!

Posted by: ReproMan

Can we get some love in here for the Phillies?

Don't forget to purchase your pink hat.

Phillies beat Joe Torre, Dodgers 5-1, advance to World Series

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Congrats to the Phillies and their fans!

Posted by: ReproMan

YAY!!!!

Posted by: Doublebase

Finally, now I just hope Boston wins so we can spank them in the World Series.

Since 2005, Boston is 10-2 vs. the Phillies.

Posted by: ReproMan

The way things are playing out right now though, I'd rather play the Sox in the Series. This reminds me too much of last season, the Phils were hot but they ran into a club that was a bit hotter in the Rockies. As long as Rollins can keep getting on base we should be good...

Posted by: min0 lee

Go Tampa!

Posted by: shiznit2169

Oh My Fucking God!!!!!!!! I Cannot Believe This Shit! Down 7-0 Going Into The 7th And They Come Back And Win The Game. Jesus Christ!!

Posted by: soxmuscle

You gotta believe.

Although my Dad and Uncle left the game early. Idiots.

My whole family was asleep cus they have work tomorrow but i called and woke their asses up to tell them. They missed an incredible comeback.

Posted by: Goodfella9783

Reminded me of the movie Fever Pitch when Jimmy Fallon's friend calls him to say that the Sox were down 7-0 to the Yankees and scored 8 to win and everyone was going crazy. "Cops are toasting with underage kids, tickets stubs are already going for $250, girls are walking around topless!"

LOL

Posted by: I Are Baboon

If the Sox needed a spark to wake up, they got it. I'd be very weary right now if I were a Rays fan. The Sox were dead in the water and are now very much awake.

WEAK.

How often do you get to see a team clinch a pennant, regardless of whether or not it's your team?

That's what I said.

I tried pleading with him to stay but he gave me the "In my 59 years on this planet, I've never left a game early.. but it's clear, this Rays team is just far superior than the Red Sox."

I again told him he was crazy predicting an Ellsbury "Dave Roberts" like moment to win the game; I'll take a JD Drew walk off though

Interesting little tidbit:

The Drew walkoff came five years to the minute after the Aaron Bleepin' Boone home run.

I never understood the point of putting these shirts up early.

Did the Rays not learn anything last year from the Indians?

Extra Bases - Red Sox blog

Watch the Amalie Benjamin vid about superstition.

Delcarmen was in the clubhouse when the hitting started and Daisuke didn't allow him to go back out to the dugout until the game was over.

Similarly, I moved couches with my friend on my request and wasn't able to move until the game ended. Stupid? Sure, but worth it? Hell yea.

i was watching the game in and out of consciousness, in the 7th when i saw big papi on deck i knew a comeback was coming. however maybe it was the drugs speaking?

Your drugs are causing good karma for the Sox. Please double your doses.

Posted by: IronAddict

I too was watching that game with one eye open. When I heard that the Redsox won, I thought I fell asleep and was dreaming. That was one for the history books, boy.

Well if you take enough of the stuff and pass out, it really won't matter if you're gay or not.

Posted by: IronAddict

Wouldn't that depend on who's around?
