Fantasy Football???

Anybody out there played before? I'm a fantasy football virgin but am gonna give it a try here in my shop. Any sites with good info? I've already been living on the ESPN Fantasy site, any other good ones? Any tips from past experience to help me out on Draft Day and throughout the season? Thanks for the help. Draft Day is August 17th, I'll let you know how it works out for me. Thanks again.

I played fantasy football on yahoo not for cash or any thing. It is lots of fun. I like alot more than fantasy baseball and the others because u only have to update it once a week not everyday
It more fun if you start a private league and you verus your friends and stuff.

Yup, that's exactly what's going on in my shop. We each toss in $10 to the pot. Throughout the season you get three free drop/adds to compensate for injuries or just lousy players. Any more than three will cost you $5 each, also thrown into the pot. At the end of the season the 1st place competitor gets 50% of the pot, second gets 30% and third gets 20%.

I've played on the yahoo football leagues also. It's a good site and it's free.

Tips:

On draft day, make sure you draft a good running back! It is the thinnest position and the few good ones usually go quick. Do not draft a kicker until at least the middle to late rounds.

In the early rounds, draft the best player available regardless of position. Use the middle rounds to fill out the positions your team is short on. In the later rounds, gamble on some sleeper picks!

Patience is your best friend during the beginning of the season. There is always one or two idiots dropping good players just because of a couple of bad games. They usually end up regretting it.

I play in a couple of different leagues. I agree with those that say it's a blast. I enjoy it anyway.

Tip - don't always look for the hotshots, look for the consistent guys. A few years ago, I grabbed Rich Gannon as QB - It paid off in spades

BTW, being a life long Raiders fan doesn't hurt

That's interesting. My original plan was to get Kurt Warner or Daunte Culpepper and then shoot for a hot running back with my second pick. There's only 11 people in our little league so I figured I could still get a good running back come the second round. I was also thinking of a wide receiver as my third pick and here's my logic; if I get Warner with my first pick I can then get Tory Holt with my third and when they hook up for any kind of yardage and touchdowns I end up doubling my points. I could do the same if I got Daunte Culpepper with my first pick and Randy Moss with my third. I realize I'm taking a chance at not getting the receiver I want but I've been listening to the other players and they're all concentrating on Running Backs. My plan for my fourth pick is a defense for the exact reason you mentioned Bigss. Does this sound like a plan or am I completely off my rocker? Thanks for the help guys.

Actually we had a fantasy football league for IM members last year. I think IAB got it up.

That is correct! There were like 12 of us. Superman76 won our division, with me a distant 2nd place.

I'd love to do it again this year, but fantasy games are blocked from my work PC, and I don't have time to do it at home.

Heard of it though I have nvr tried. Are they really better than Dunkin D? I love the choclate glazed and coconut crumb ones. I find the "cake" donuts don't repeat on me like the lard one do..

Not that you need ed to know that...Damn now my sexy image is tarnished! LOL Oh well

If u are going to pick a qb make it kurt warner with the high flying offense of st. louis u always rack up the points. If he isnt available get anyone of those running QBs. If you can get Marshal Faulk no matter what 1st choice. Also get any wide rec. from st. louis. As for defense I really dont know what team to get but try Washington they seem like the sleeper defense.

Overall try to get the best left. If your 1st choice was Randy Moss and u want a WR 1st pick and you see Donvan McNabb satch him up. Remeber to a good kick can get you alot of points also.

You kind of read my mind in a couple of places. Being from Philly originally and a die hard Eagles fan I've got my eyes on Donovan and the Eagle's D. Thanks for the help Bigss.

Damn, I already get dirty looks for how little work I do around here. I don't know if I could get away with TWO leagues.

Draft day is Aug 17th. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out. Do you know of any good sites for FFL info besides ESPN and YAHOO?
