doing one arm pushups again

A few years ago when I was 16, i used to love doing one arm pushups. I could do 25 with my right arm and I believe I greatly benefited form it in terms of strength and some size. The only major downsider to it is that it is hazardous to the joints from the pressure put on them for doing a one limb exercise and I didnt want bad joints to effect my life, regardless of my love for the exercise.

Now as you all probably know, IanDaniel in particular, is I love taking fish oil and since they provide healthy joints and anti-inflammatory properties, would it be okay for me to add one arm pushups to my routine again and take a good quantity fish oil daily as well? Would that do anything or is it not enough?

Sure man. As long as youre taking fish oil caps you'll be alright. Do them to failure every day and you should see results. Just be sure to take at least 15 fish oil caps a day.

Well heres a question, do you think fish oil is going to take away the mechanical pressure on your shoulder joint?

It might help lubricate the joint and maintain connective tissue, but that force is still gonna be there.

If you ask one more question about fish oil you're going on a Time-Out, mister.

I know fish oil wont take away the pressure on my joints, but wont it prevent joint damage or at least alleviate any hazards my joints could face as a result of doing one arm pushups?

I think you are suppose to stick those fish oil pills up your ass or they won't properly lubricate the joints. Remember, you have to stick at least 10 fish oil pills up your ass for them to provide adequate joint protection.

I wanna incorporate one arm pushups to my routine again and am wondering if the effect of fish oil will help to keep my joints safe, not that it will magically make them stronger and lubricate them so i will feel no pressure at all. I am asking if the fish oil will help keep my joints safe. I know im gonna get at least 10 negative responses and I dont care, just undsertand what i am saying and stop over exaggerating what I am saying.

I answered it. The answer is no, it wont stop potential damage to the shoulder joint.

It will lubricate the joint and help with the repair of connective tissue, but it doesnt make your joint indestructible to your entire bodyweight being hinged on it in such an uneven manner.

Sure, do them, but like anything else train smart. If 25 one armed pushups hurt dont do fucking 25.

Once again, as people have said in your other threads - fish oil is cool, it is a good supplement, but it isnt the weight training wonder tool.

no 25 was the most reps i could do with my right arm. I was not doing 25 in mr routine, i would take a 15 lb weight on my back and put my feet on a high bed and do around 5-6 one arm pushups.

Read the stickies in the training form, design a training program from the stickies, and post it. Then read the stickies in D&N, design a nutritional program, and post it.

Otherwise, I am not going to help you. Your questions show that you have a severe lack of understanding of the basic fundamentals that are necessary for success. Twisting motions at the end of your bench press, adding more weight to one side of the bar, doing one arm push-ups, ect., none of that stupid shit is going to help you until you get the basics down.

Anyway, you are a smart ass little shit that whines about the advice you get. Do your one arm pushups and eat your fishoil. When you feel like making some actual progress refer to the first paragraph in this post.

First, i wasnt whining about shit, except for the fact that my question wasnt answered and i was getting ur sarcastic overexaggerated bullshit. Gazhole gave me the answer I was looking for.

second, i dont need ur help. Ur nothing special.

third, i read all the stickies. I know the basics and I am simply asking if fish oil will help my joints and improve their health if I added onearm pushups into my routine because one limb exercises can be bad for the joints.

what are you trying to acomplish exactly by doing one arm pushups?

and why do you have "a love for the exercise" if it is painfull and destructive to your joints

the whole logic behind this is screwed

fish oil is a dietary supplement with possitive health benifits

its not a steroid
and its not a joint brace

the effects it does have are not even THAT significant

take it as part of your diet
not as part of your routine

stop trying to make it the genetic miracle you wish your where blessed with
because it is not going to make you superman, no matter who told you this

and ben dur.. why am i a crazy kid if Gazhole approves that I do one arm pushups. I used to do them and my joints werent that bad at all. And I worked hard to get to be able to do one arm pushups on the floor so damn right i have a love for the exercise because im the only person I know who can do it.

and you dont need anyones approval to do anything you want
i just think there are other exercises that are more effective, less brutally destructive to your body, and not painful

and fishoil will not change that

I neither approve nor disapprove. They are an exercise like any other. They have their benefits aswell as their risks like any other exercise has.

I think theyre a option, and i do them when i want a higher intensity when doing bodyweight-only training.

Another option would be one armed dumbell bench press. Its similar in terms of what it does (a unilateral horizontal plane pushing movement) and has the added bonus of more control over the intensity and therefore less risk.

Which one you choose is down to personal preference, and how either movement would fit in with your overall program design and goals.

Fish Oil supplementation however, has no bearing on this choice.
