Protein content in egg yolk?

When I down 6 eggs, I am removing 4 yolks, and wondering if the protein content is affected at all by this?

Just want to know how to accurately count my totals.

the white of a large egg contains about 3.5g of protein

I don't believe so. I was never told to subtract protein grams.

From what Seyone says (if accurate) then the yolk would contain proteins. Protein is neccessary for life, so it makes sense that the what becomes the baby chick has protein as well (the yolk), the white is just fuel for the baby chick to be.

Protein of the entire egg: 6.25
Protein of just the Yolk is 2.85
Just the white: 3.5

whole 6.25g
white 3.52g
yolk 2.78g

Ah hah, thanks!

remember that the different sized eggs will have varying amounts of protein, fats etc. most nutritional stats for eggs are based on the large size.

EGGxactly! I use Jumbo's because I get them at wholesale, but even X-Large, that most use will have more! (4 P white, 3 P yolk for simplicity)

The overlooked fact here is that there is about 5 grams of fat per yolk!

No no! Not overlooked at all, I know that the fat is in the yolk, already accounted for DR!.

I also looked at the super-huge eggs, 5 fat and 8 protein instead of my "Large AA" eggs which are 6 protein and 3.5 fat (on the box). I spose I an use the info above to create an expected % instead of actual numbers. The huge eggs break open easily too, nice to work with. I get whats on sale generally

Thanks guys and dolls
