Wrestling Fans- Bret Hart opinion?

(CLICK HERE here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Two questions come to mind.

1) What is everyone's take on Bret Hart during his tenure during and after the WWF?

2) Do you think Vince McMahon was to blame for Owen's Death.

- Vince has paid an excess amount of dollars for
Owen 's death.

- Sting was also hung from the air and swooped down from the rafters. Do you think Bret would've blame Eric Bischoff/Ted Turner if the accident was in WCW. Or, is this simply another act of Bret's hate and selfishness toward McMahon

3) If you were paid Bret Hart's salary and the Boss told you to DO something, would you even care if he said, "End the match now"?

Unfortunately, Hart, I felt was selfish and greedy once he became a superstar and then was irate of the push of the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

In the begining Brett seemed really nice. Once he got the big bucks he went south. It wasnt vinces fault about owen. The rope thing was done all the time in the wwf, wcw, ecw.
Hart was washed up when Austin became a Superstar. I feel the change of hart happened at the ironman match againist HBK

Hart should have done what he was told, but I do not think it was handled properly by vince either. Owens death was an accident and nothing else.

All Vince did was quicken the pase of the match and told the ref to ring the bell. Vince probably was going to improvise until Hart spit in his face. That was NASTY. Almost as nasty as Tommy Dreamer drinking Undertaker's spit!

In the words of the great "The Ladies Man"

DAT'S DISGUSTIN

Posted by: davidjasondean

What, Dreamer and the spit?

Posted by: bigss75

Drinkin spit thats nasty

Posted by: davidjasondean

Yeah, the WWE definitely had some stomach's turning on that one because it was REAL and Dreamer is a bona fide, IDIOT!

I think Bret is one of the best wrestlers of all time. Seeing him and Chris Benoit go at it once was incredible...just the level of skill in the ring was awesome.

As for him leaving WWF (E?) I think Vince screwed him because there is lots of evidence to show that it happened...it just shows how much of a businessman Vince is, and I always take my hat off to him. He now has the guy that almost put him into the toilet working for him (Bischoff). I wish Bret had given up the belt cleanly.

As for Owen's death, that was nobody's fault, it was just a tragic accident. I was actually watching the PPV when it happened and I'll never forget the look on Lawler's face when they actually put cameras back onto him and JR.

Ponyboy,

Unfortunately, Wrestling is like a soap opera or even a movie. You can change rewrite a script before the final mix and editing. You can also do that in Wrestling. Unfortunately in wrestling, you can change a script 2 seconds b4 a match or even during a match.

The problem there was Bret's ego. Because it was in Canada,
(his character and resale value-he was planning to leave anyway) he refused to submit so they were going to have it as DQ belt transfer to Shawn Michaels anyways. Well, the BOSS changed his mind and decided to come out and tell the timekeeper to ring the bell during the match. So afterwards, Bret spits on him. I believe Bret's salary was like $300,00.00 or more? Give me that amount and if you asked me to dress like Goldust, I will! But I'll never-never drink spit!

Bret Hart- Good entertaining wrestler and athlete? YES
Bret Hart's ego swollen? Yes
Bret Hart calling the shots? NO!

Posted by: ponyboy

I'll agree with you there. I think Vince was afraid, like you said, that Bret was going to rewrite the script himself and try to take the belt to WCW with him, just like the Women's Belt had been previously (pretty humiliating). So he decided to do a rewrite himself.

I don't agree with Bret's actions after the match, especially him punching McMahon after the whole thing happened, that's just a bad temper getting in the way. He should have bowed out gracefully.

It's funny how WWE is now using that incident as part of the new Canadian angle to rile up the fans and make them remember.

Bret Hart was one of the best new-age superstars that had a lot of originality and a convincing style and attitude. However, what happened between him and Vince McMahon is really a tragedy because Bret Hart could still be wrestling and a guy like him would make such an impact among the likes of Triple H and The Rock, some great matches could have been had.

I swear. Only the people on IM could go in depth about of all things fake wrestling

NO NO NO you guys have it all wrong he was supposed to win that match in his home country! VInce agreed he would! He then was going to lose it on the following RAW and Bret was all for that. HE was ultimately screwed!

Well, all in all, Vince McMahon is known for changing his mind at the last second and to be the very first, during a match.

However, this bothers me a little bit but we know the latter of the outcome of greed-laziness in the WCW!

Eric Bishoff and Kevin Nash were trying to convince him to change his mind and how great life was with an easier schedule. Bischoff was offering big money and a shot at becoming a movie star, a goal Hart had been pursuing while on semince McMahon was offering him, in the now immortal words of Arn Anderson, not just a spot but the top spot in the company, and almost literally to be WWF 4 life. Many close advisers of Hart's tried to tell him going to WCW was the best move for his present, and more importantly his future after wrestling.

just my opinion

As shown somewhere in the thread (beginning)

If I was paid 3 million whatever dollars, I would do what the boss says, regardless! Also, it's Vince's company and he can do those changes as sees fit whether wrong or right.
