New Exercise Program/New Mp3 Player. Help?

Hi Everyone,

I am one of the many of us looking to start the new year off with getting back in the gym. It just so happens that I’m also in the market for a new Mp3 player. To give myself the best chance of keeping with the program I wanna make sure that I can enjoy my music with out it being a hassle.

- What size of Mp3 player do find is most accommodating while lifting or doing cardio?
- What amount of memory do you feel is sufficient for the player?
- Are their wireless headsets available? How is the quality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck in the New Year!

- Danny

for me I need at least 2 gigs, Small and clip on. I don't trust wireless tech even that close. For me I need my music to be flawless while I workout.

I like the Ipod shuffles, 50 bucks, two gigs, toss your power songs on there and jam dude.
the charge lasts me a couple weeks worth of workouts.

2GB-4GB is plenty of space if you ask me... i'm constantly changing the music on my ipod so i'd never need more than that... i've got a 4GB ipod nano video and it's perfect for what i need... i don't like the ipod shuffle due to the lack of a display screen... i listen to a lot of new upfront music so i'm not always familiar with what i'm listening to and it's nice to be able to look and see... i guess if you don't mind listening to classic stuff that you've always listened to then you wouldn't need a display screen... but keep in mind if there's a specific song you want to listen to good luck finding it without one... there are tons of mp3 players out there and they'll all do what they're made to do... play music... but i personally prefer ipods... a nice little 2GB-4GB ipod nano would probably be perfect for what you're looking for... i'm not sure about wireless headphones but i just clip my ipod onto my pants or shorts and run the headphones under my shirt so the wire stays out of the way... works fine... sound quality with ipod headphones is fine providing the mp3 is of good quality...

^^^ ipod nano video (what i've got... love it)

^^^ ipod shuffle (very small, cheaper, but not enough features for me)

The 4Gb zunes are small cheap, and pretty convenient.

if you have high bitrate songs you cant get that many on there, id suggest the 2 gig personally. wally world and target have them.

go to target, get the two gig clip and a pair of skullcandy headphones, the whole deal will run you about 80 bucks I believe and you get compact, good sound, overall a good deal IMO. plus no battery drain for a (in my opinion) superfluous screen.

a screen is essential for my needs but to each their own... if you don't care about having a screen then yes the shuffle is much smaller and more compact... the battery drain time shouldn't be a deciding factor for an ipod with a screen though as it lasts plenty long... i can't remember the last time i had to plug in my ipod just to charge it... i normally add new music every few days in which case i just leave it plugged in for a bit at that time... not to mention i have a usb hook up in my car that charges it even as it's playing whenever it's plugged into that...

I'm one of those people that will get a song that pops up in my head then i want to go to it. With 1 gig I can't cover that spread. I need pretty much full cd's so I can listen to that never listened to track when I want to. If youre not as crazy about it like me maybe 1gig will cover you but dam, why get 1 when you can get 2. You'll eventually want it.

to me
the 4 gig nano is perfect
(i use noise canceling earbuds! i love them)

and accesories are abundant

i outgrew the original armband i bought with it
and a new neopreme one was only 12 dollars, which i stubbled upon while shopping in academy

mine is about half full of music and it seems like im always listening to different music

mine doesnt just stay in the gym bag though
mine attatches to my car stereo while im commuting

if your looking for new interesting music i personally love (pandora.com) after a few minutes it may make you setup a username, but its completely free..
only takes a email, username, and password

type in the artist, genre, or song you like, and it generates a playlist of similar music. then it saves your "stations".

GREAT way to find new music

if i were just looking for an MP3 player for the gym id probably go with the cheapest possible mp3 player

but if your looking to use it for anything else id recomend a 4 gig Nano
