What do you bench?

I thought that would get your attention! So, ladies and gents- What do you bench, squat and dead? Leave the bullshit at home.

On a good day you'd see me bench 340 Great day-355 (Goal 400)
I dead 315 3X10 - Max 425? (Goal 485)
Squat (3 knee surgeries-I am working on it, don't worry!) 215 3x10 - Goal 315 for a set.

Long arms and a bum knee make pwr lifting a f'n chore!

Posted by: coleman

I am 17 and have been lfting for 4 months, I bench 3 sets of ten reps at 250 pounds.

Posted by: Scream'n

I forgot to say - but your wt. would be good info. I weigh about 245 right now.

Posted by: Scream'n

Good job Coleman - You must be a BIG'N

Posted by: neo1605

Weight 208
Bench 315

Posted by: Preacher

(looks to see if no one's looking ...)

I bench a measly 205 for 8 reps at 161 lbs
But, they FEEL like 300 to me (does that count ?)

I can squat for 8 good long reps with 285 (yup, legs are way better than chest for me).

And I can deadlift 290! Clean!

Please, don't go asking people for their biceps size now .. it's embarrasing ..

Posted by: coleman

I am 6 foot 1 and 105 kilos/231 pounds...so i am only lifting a little moren than i weigh!!! u have no idea how hard chin ups/push ups are for me!

Posted by: Scream'n

Coleman - You have got to quit smok'n dope!! 250 for 10 is killer. You are 17. When I was 17 I weighed 155 lbs. (I couldn't do shit - Not one plate!) Get a spotter to aid you in your pullups - they'll come!

Posted by: coleman

Ta, man. u mst be a friggin tank now lifting 340

TP - 2x body wt.! Awesome. The website above has a bench program that worked great for my partner and me. I added 35 lbs. in about 2 months to my bench. It is from Muscle Media. I would highly recommend it.

Posted by: KataMaStEr

Man and to think that I though I had done 335lbs b/c of my awesome math skills only to find out later it was 315lbs. Man If I don’t get the actual 335 on my next test next week before school starts I’m going to follow that plan don’t give a shiat what my coach says b/c he is the one that writes out workout routing on the board... Thx for the link

Posted by: NickB

I bench 75.... weight of 40lbs + bar

Just call me Arnold. :\

Posted by: davidjasondean

I don't use barbells anymore. I use the Dumb bells (DB)

Currently before I start to shed from bulking: (In Atlanta!)

Wgt. 305
Ht: 6'1"

Bench: 135 lb. DB's (each wise guys!) for 10
Deadlift: Just started incorporated them after 7 years: 365 lbs.
Squat: 355 lbs. But stopped
Leg press instead: 1100 lbs. +

God, I hate these type of questions from people in the gym. Message board, is fine!

When cutting (soon) I incorporate the 30 rep rule on all exercises. Time to break out the supplemements! LOL!

Posted by: EarWax

Doh, ok, i'm going to have to work harder on my bench.

Posted by: Twin Peak

Dude, how in the world do you have 1000+ posts in ONLY ONE MONTH???

Posted by: davidjasondean

Ask Bigss on that one Twin Peaks. He instigated all weekend long!

Well, Earwax, your spared because by the time I see you in Hotlanta, I will be in a cutting phase and will be cutting the weights by half or more. I'm going to be doing a vomiting 30 reps or slightly less!

Posted by: Twin Peak

Why would you cut your weights in half for a cutting phase? Cutting is all about diet, not the way you lift. You either lift to build muscle or you don't. There is no special way to cause more "cuts" in the muscle.

Posted by: davidjasondean

I always thought, "Higher Reps are better during a cutting cycle" because my body react a lot different when I use the 5 rep rule.

Sure, regardless of the weights you move will always build muscle but............ I'll let you finish this.

Sorry DJ, I don't really don't understand your comment. I don't get whether you are asking a question or being a tad sarcastic. Either way, reread my last post!

"God, I hate these type of questions from people in the gym. Message board, is fine!"

Yeah - When people who don't care about your progress ask, it's rude. Friends are welcome.

I have people say "men, I thought you'd be stronger than that. I was benching XXX in H.S." To me it's about improvement and the effort. Talk is cheap.

Posted by: Princess

HMMM? Do I really want to post my stats after Butterfly put hers on here!! IMPRESSIVE GIRL!!
Weight: 118lbs.
Bench: 120Lbs (only when I have my brother to spot me)
I use dumbbells.. the hightest one I have tried was 40lbs.. TOO heavy though for me.. could just do 4! I stick w/ the 25lbs.

SQUAT: 140lbs.
Cant do much of those..
I can do 120lbs fast though!

Posted by: butterfly

Fade is really busy today so I'm posting for him...

Weight: 190
Height: 5'7"

Bench: 290 lbs
Deadlift: 455 lbs
Squats: 500 lbs
Leg press: 1400 lbs

I love watching everyone's jaw drop when they see him leg press... very sexy

Posted by: Princess

HOLY COW!!!!!!

Posted by: davidjasondean

"It's not Hello, how are doing?" it's more like "what's up man, how much can you bench"? LOL!!!

Scream'n that reminds me of this guy where I used to work. He would ask me, "how much can you lift-bench?" (sitting their with his bag a of Burger King) and then replies, "oh man, when I lifted I was doing more than that!" That dude couldn't pick up a 70 lb. DB now if he tried!

Posted by: butterfly

I so know that type!!!

Posted by: EarWax

1400 lbs... wow! *jaw fell off* *rattling on floor*

OK, now I'll divy up my lifting skill... LOL... might as well sometime

Bench Press: 160 x 10 (what is going on here?)
Leg Press: 360 x 10 (1400 in my mind)
Squat: 315 x 4
Deadlift: 315 x 4

Now that I'm completely embarrassed, I'll go back into my cave.

Posted by: davidjasondean

Don't worry Earwax, when I get through with you in Atlanta, will bring you up to the 800 leg press mark! Ask my friend when you see him with me!

squat 400
deadlift 375

Posted by: Pitboss

I'm pathetic...... when I did these w8's I was 182/183 this was last December

Bench 265 x 3
Dead 315 x 4
Squat 315 x 5
Leg press 630 x 6

These were always on my last set. I have never attempted to just go for a personal 1 rep max.

Posted by: caseywhitcher

quoting Coleman:

I am 17 and have been lfting for 4 months, I bench 3 sets of ten reps at 250 pounds.

__________________________________________________

Umm..??? do you realize that 250 X 10 once equals out to a predicted max of 331? I'm not sure how that equals out for someone who does 3 sets of 10?????

At 17 and only lifting for 4 months that's kind of hard to belive...... but.. I've seen it happen.

You are obviously going to go a long way in your training, that's great lifts at your age, specifically with such a short time training! Congrats, and keep up the good work.

Posted by: caseywhitcher

Me personally I never Max out, I really don't care how strong I am. I'm not training for anything anymore, and I'm not into powerlifting. (although I have nothing against powerlifters)

I generally think alot of guy are more concerned with impressing other sweaty guys in the gym than they are with coming in and building muscle, and getting in better shape.

If you're not competing in a sport that you need to build power, or powerlifting itself, then really you're only real goal in the gym should be to look good!

Keep that in mind and don't worry so much about what you lift, you're only likely to injur yourself. Lift weights that you can control with good form that gets you to muscle failure in a certain # of reps.

I personally never try to lift a weight I don't feel confident that I can lift at least 4X The most I've ever put on a bar is 315, to date I can get 6 reps in the middle of my workout, that equals out to an estimated 370.

If you guys are interested in checking out a really good estimated 1 rep max chart that I found you can print it at
http://keithpayne.homestead.com/files/estmax1.htm

By the way I'm 6'1 225 and 27 years old. 17% BF and dropping.

I knew guys in high school doing over 300, our max bencher when I was there did 330 or 335, we were also considered the nerdly of the two schools in the city, as for the other school I would not doubt above 350, so I don't doubt 330ish for a 17 year old. Hard to believe sure, impossible most certainly not.

I remember also that there was a guy doing 560 under the age of 18 when I was in high school, I don't know what the teen records are now though. There was also a 170 pounder doing more than twice his bodyweight, another teen record holder.

According to that chart I should be hitting 325, although as GoPro said not everyone is the same. I have seen 3 different charts as far as what they estimate, one which uses formulas, the other two (yours included) making actual estimations.

Posted by: caseywhitcher

Totally agree with you mudge, I'm not sure I totally buy into those charts either, but they are a good guide..

I actually went back and edited my post about Coleman, I know those lifts are very possible, but far more impressive than anything.

Posted by: ians

Bench Press - 220lbs (3x10) - 275 (2 reps)
Squat - 220lbs (3x10) - 265lbs (5 reps)
Deadlift - 210lbs (3x10) - 250lbs (2 reps)

Weak legs i know ! But i was an upper body man for quite some time before i realised the error of my ways - its on the up tho !

Posted by: newly_buff

Bench 105 lbs 8 - 10 reps (don't know my max) I AM SOOO WEAK!!!!!

Squat 205 lbs 10 reps (I have a MUCH stronger lower body than upper body)

I haven't done dead lift in awhile...can't remember. I don't need any thicking of my mid section anyway lol.

5' 3"
163 lbs and still losing

Posted by: dee@raw

just under 4 weeks from a contest:
height:5'6"
weight (current):192lb at 5% bodyfat
this weeks lifts:
Incline bench ( i dont do flat benches anymore):495lb x 6 reps
Incline dumbells:175's x 10
deadlift:675lb for 2 reps
squat:585lb for 8 reps

I love the big lifting. It took me years of persistance to get to that.

Posted by: NickB

my max is aprox 120.... wheee

Posted by: BjUaFyF

I am 5'8 and a thick 269 pounds.

I Bench 320 x 10
I Squat 620 x 8
Leg press is a guestimation for me as The Leg press machine at my gym only holds 14 45's a side so thats 1260 pounds x 10 I usually have friend sit on the machine for my last set and he's approx. 240 pounds so maximum leg press is 1500 (ish)
Standing calve raise machine peaks at 330 but most I have done is 570 on that one (with the same friend sitting on it).
