does anyone have a good article on getting started on olympic/power lifts ?

i was considering adding a day of this into my gym week

Cleans have been a popular lift around here. As far as training & techniques I've just searched YouTube to get the basics then had a trainer check my form.

lol no such luck for me mate. the gym I go to is just filled with suppliment junkies who train chest 12 times a week.

i do my own thing at the gym so to speak lol

Olympic lifting is tough to learn without a coach or someone to teach you the basic components of the lift.

Not to say that Power Movements are simple, because they arn`t, but Olympic movements are another matter. I agree, they need to be taught by someone who has experience in doing them. I compare the Olympic Movements to throwing a discus or shot putting. Those are pretty complicated movements inside that 7 ft circle. So is Olympic Lifting.

I learned them from a book and developed horrible habits. When I started training with this team so that I could compete, it was really hard to break a lot of those habits - I still have bad habits with my lifts.

I went to a pro session here in Vancouver and I was told my form was actually not bad, considering how I learned, but yeah, not like getting it right from the start.
