Is Cardio/Basketball going to hurt my bulk

If I make up for it by eating more that day by maybe 600-1000 calories depending on how long I play. I keep hearing that cardio "can" use some of your muscle during cardio for energy. Is there any truth to this or am I fine as long as I make up the calories.

ok, you're probably going to get lots of opinions on this one that tell you cardio is bad and erodes muscle. But I will be the contrarian and say "who cares?" Do you love basketball? Then do it. Period.

Now, on a more technical level, basketball is not constant rate, medium intensity cardio. It's intense "bursts" with rests. That's the best cardio there is and science has shown it isn't as likely to eat your muscles as marathon running would.

But you can compensate for any fear of muscle loss by your diet (I'm not an expert, but I think you want to ingest a mix of carbs and protein about every 30 minutes of intense cardio). And, then play with the timing - if you are doing basketball on your "rest" days, then you could be preventing the muscle growth that your weight training itself is designed for.

Yeah, who cares. Just bring a shake with you for afterwards (Pro/simple carbs or even Pro/oatmeal) and eat some extra food that day.

I never understood stopping something you like doing because of fear of losing muscle...unless your a pro bodybuilder or something and you make a living off of it, just go an have a life dude you're muscles will be there when you get back.

Anyone remember someone asking a question about not having sex because it could tire you out for your workout or something like that?

fuck that ......sex is where i get my best ab workouts

I went ahead and joined a rec league and bought some extra oats and peanut butter to make shakes!, thanks for all the advice guys!
