...of hiring Scott Boras as his agent to the well-being of baseball.
Stephen Strasburg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you don't know him, check out the link above.
I saw this tidbit from Gammons the other day:
"Agents will continue to try to convince teams that stars like Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia or Holliday will get their money; some club officials think that if Washington takes San Diego State pitcher Stephen Strasburg with the first overall pick, Boras will ask for Daisuke Matsuzaka money (six years, approximately $50 million) or take him to Japan for a year, a threat that may scare Stan Kasten into selecting a lesser prospect."
No player has ever asked for such a ludacris (I've got hoes in different area codes) amount of money in the history of the baseball draft.
If Boras does take this route, you can bet your ass Major League Baseball will fight it tooth and nail. However, I don't believe the players union will give in to the demands of the league and odds are a labor dispute will be a direct result of it.
I understand the way Scott Boras does business - all he cares about is getting the most money for him, his agency and his clients regardless of the negative impact it has on the game; what I don't understand is why he would even throw this idea out to such a high profile journalist in Peter Gammons when if a labor dispute were to happen, the sport that made him who he is today (as a direct result of him) could ultimately fold.

Scott Boras needs to die.
He's Jacoby Ellsbury's agent too, so I expect Ellsbury to be playing elsewhere with his next contract.
