After my workout, I drink a whey shake with oats.

How long AFTER this Post Work out shake should I have my next meal?

I usually wait 3 hours, but do not know if this is good.

Hmm I would say 45mins to 1 hour after post-workout meal? Anybody to correct me?

3 hours?

After my PWO shake I start getting hungry about a half hour after finishing it.

That said, I'll usually just sit on IM for another half hour and eat my next meal one full hour after downing my shake.

I never understood having elaborate PWO shakes with oats, peanut butter and crap like that.

Skim milk, chocolate whey and that's it for me. Ballpark: 350 calories, 50 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbs.

That way I can eat a whole balanced meal an hour later without the shake overwhelming my stomach.

I do something almost similar. I drink a whey protein shake with water on the drive home from the gym and drink a glass of milk once I'm there. My first meal after that is about 1.5 hrs later.

an hour or so for me.

I pound my shake as soon as I get home. Usually no more then 10 min PWO. Then a rather large meal follows an hour later.

I'm with the one hour later crowd.

If you don't feel like eating for another 3 hours, then you need to work out harder or or your metabolism is way too slow and needs to be speeded up.
