Pinched nerve?

I believe i pinched a nerve deadlifting about a week ago.It hurts when i bend over or try to put socks on or even standing up its very painful most of the time. The pain is in my glute/hip area and the pain travels all the way down my leg sometimes , so i guess that would be a sciatic nerve?Has anyone had this? How is it treated?I know i need to go to the doctor and i will sometime next week but im just wondering what they do to "fix" the problem. -thanks

I had an L4, L5 herniation and this is the exact pain I went through. Don't screw around with this. Get to the doc ASAP.

Do you have any back pain? Did you feel this happen while lifting?

Well to tell the truth its nowhere near as bad as it was to begin with. Its easier to walk now and stuff , but it still hurts (but nowhere near what it did).I have a little bit of lower back pain but i believe ive had that before this problem (back pain from poor deadlifting form ) And no i did not notice this pain until the next day.

Has anyone else experienced this pain/problem?

yup, I had that EXACT pain, and once I got an MRI I found that I had an S1/L5 disc herniation, after 3 epidural injections and 4 months of therapy it went away, but it took another two years before I could really lift weights again, but I am now quite limited in what I can do, I am sure I still have the herniation, it just no longer pushes on my nerve, but it will always be susceptible to reinjury so I am very careful in everything I do!

getting and MRI on your lower back would be a good idea so you can see exactly what is going on down there, you don't want to screw it up even more.

I had the same thing.

If it is a herniation it will change the way you lift.

I had a ruptured lower disc a few years ago. I push the issue and it flares up every now and then. I've now pretty much decided (finally) that deadlifts and back squats are OUT.

All that said, I'm 41, still lifting, and have never been stronger in my life.

You may have a bump in the road here if it is a herniation, but with some adjustments, you'll figure it out.

I imagine so.

I hate to throw deadlifts and back squats out of my routine , they are of the most important exercises i do. but if i have to then i guess i have no other choice.

ill have to figure it out.i must keep lifting.
