So I have some Body Fortress protein powder. How much should I be using and when? I read I should take some before bed and in the morning and right after working out but don't want to go overkill. How many tablespoons should I mix with water at each interval?

What kind of protein is that? Is that whey isolate, casein or mass weight gainer?

You can take as much as you need. Its just liquid calories.

If I don't have time to make my breakfast, I take 20 gms. of whey protein and a cup of oats about hour before workout and another 40 gms of whey protein and gatorate powder immediately after the workout, again about 40-50 minutes later I take one more meal. For the rest of the day I take around 40 gms. protein shake between my meals.

Before the bed it is good idea to take one cup fatfree cottage cheese.

As a general guideline, your daily protein intake should be 1gram per pound of weight. (200lbs = 200grams). However, in one meal, your body can only absorb roughly 30grams max. So your intake should be spread out in the day.

Note that this is a supplement and you should consider your regular protein intake from your meals.

The benefit of whey protein is really to help repair and build muscles. One serving post workout is best as it helps the muscles repair. One in the evening is so that when you sleep, there is something to maintain the muscles in a fasted state. The breakfast is also a good option since your body is recovering from the sleep.

For me, the one that is most important is the post workout shake. The other 2 are nice if you can but I cut those when budget doesn't permit.

For the serving, refer to your label. It should indicate how many scoops are needed per serving. Use the scoop that came with the jar.

Hope this helps mate.

Yes, you can bodybuild without protein shakes. However, some find it difficult to reach their daily protein intake without them. If you have any questions, please use the search feature to look for an answer. If you can't find an adequate response, feel free to create a new thread in the appropriate location.

You are asking this in the All The Whey sponsored portion of the forum.

However, this one is excellent and tastes great: LG Sciences Lipotropic Protein
