Thread: Filtering solutions with EO?

I've been reading to kick back and let it go at 5psi Max.

15psi with glass has always worked perfectly. It's just a pain to keep it at 5. Guess I'll just be paitent.

Okay FUCK EO. That shit ate through the stericup receiver and leaked everywhere. SOOO PISSED. Theres no way in hell that it can be good for you.


How come I've never heard of this problem before? No one seems to have any problems filtering stuff with EO in it.

it's common. i tried filtering with a syringe a long time ago,and the syringe just stopped moving

and dont use plastic receivers, they break constantly. u must use glass

I broke my glass one so I just went with the stericup unit. It specifically says that it's rated for EO on the website. PVDF filters are supposed to be good with EO as well.

I've been using gear with EO in it this cycle. I've had stomach problems, indigestion and continuous "soured" stomach belches. Ive cut everything else I can think of out of the mix and I still have these problems. I'm gonna switch to non-EO gear and see what happens.

I'm beginning to think that EO is not good for you after all of this. We will see.

Eo doesn't bother me. Also, I use the plastic receiver. I never have a problem and always keep psi at 4 max.

Noteworthy- I keep eo at 20% max.

I noticed on some gear I had that they had used 33% EO. I figured I'd use that as a starting point. Well now I know. Just sucks to come home and find a cabinet full of test. That shit stinks and doesn't come out.

Update:

Tried a really small batch of tren with 10% EO and it worked. I kept the PSI right at 5. But towards the end, the oil started to leak on the outside of the stericup. Only lost a couple ml but it's just a pain in the dick. I've had that happen before however. Not sure what causes that.

Do you think it's just the EO? Was it the correct stericup filtering material?

Not sure brother. It's happened before with just BA/BB solutions. It's much less common when you have a glass receiver. Really that's the ticket.

But word of advice. Always have at least 1 extra bottle top filter ready to go incase of emergency. Or at least have a glass bottle that you can pour it all back into until you can get another filter. These solutions DO NOT like sitting for any amount of time in those plastic bottles.

Is there a better option on filters even if it costs a few bucks more?

Personally I like the PVDF stericups in the .22 size. They might take a little longer but I've never been disappointed. The trick is to not get ahead of yourself and be patient. Keep the psi low and just be prepared to spend some time with it. Honestly, I haven't heard of a better filter.

Tried some more EO solutions through it and it worked fine. I think I just had the PSI too high the first couple times.

The past 2 steric ups I used were not tight. My fault on the first use. I should have checked to make sure everything was right and secure, it wasn't. Bitch was leaking everywhere. The we second steric up I checked before using. It was loose too.

I plan to use EO in my brew, can someone post a link to the glass receivers there using with the stericup filters please

They use a 45mm neck. Anything will work.

use a reg vacuum flask. u can put the pressure up super high

Shit always go low pressure 3 to 5 psi

dont need to go low if u use a glass vacuum flask. only need to go low if ur using a crappy plastic one thats going to break anyway

if u turn the stericups too tight,they break.

they have too many issues

so im ignorant as to what EO is can some one fill my stupid ass in?
