    Anyone try these filters out?

    Syringe Filter, PVDF, 25mm diameter, 0.2um, 10/pk: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

    and

    Amazon.com: Syringe Filter, PTFE, 25mm diameter, 0.45um, 10/pk: Industrial & Scientific

Seems like there are options of PVDF, PTFE, and nylon. .2 and .45um options in all three. A buck each if you get 25, which is cheaper than others. Wasnt sure if this was just some knock off or go with the proven whatmans.

Scratch that. Nothing here is stating that these are sterile filters.

On second thought...If I double filter(.45 then .2) and bake it, wouldn't the final product still be sterile?

Just talking to myself but thats okay. Its like a digital notepad.

Filter the first time with an unsterile .45, then a second with .2 sterile. Yea, i like that idea.

    What's the point in filtering a .45 then a .22?

There really is no point to double filter.

I believe it has to be a sterile filter or it won't be sterile. Could be wrong though.

No you're right. I was just trying to do things the best way for cheap. There isn't a way. Going to get a hand pump and stericup. Do the damn thing right the first time.

I would suggest the 33mm bottle top filter and a wheaton media bottle and the 33mm septa tops. I haven't done it but I think it will work best. Keep it sterile the whole time. Its outline in the "tools of the trade" thread. I think it would work best if you sterilize the wheaton bottle through dry heat sterilization and sterilize the septa tops and place on media bottle after filtering. I think it will go smoothly myself.

I plan to use steam to sterilize. I'm going to use a pressure cooker as a homemade autoclave.

I know someone who ordered the 50/pk. When he got them they were not sterile by any means. All 50 together in a plastic container with soft PVC ends. You "could" run a sterilizing agent through, (BA) and then use them. If you were to do that you would surely want to bake them, and have insurance just in case you get an infection.
