This is the problem so many people have. They are under the impression that they are eating enough becuase they are holding body fat, yet exercising. It doesn't occur to them that they have trained their body to function at that caloric intake. If they were to use this as a guide to their diet, manipulating their physique would be a lot easier

This aint my first rodeo.

According to that I need to be eating like 2800 calories. Maybe I really don't know what I need, but that seems incredibly high considering I'm eating around 2100 right now.

I understand, but unless you are under 5'7" and weigh less than 160, that is not a lot of calories for any athlete or weight lifter.

I was just making a general statement, not directed at anyone.

I find most tend to over estimate their level of activity when assessing thei caloric needs.

I'm glad this has an age factor built in. So much of what I read out there doesn't consider age.

Maybe - I was going with the good old 13 cals per 1lb body weight which comes to around 2145 for me if I remember correctly.

Meh maybe it's an outdated method. Winter break is coming up in a week, that should be a good time to play with my diet.

First off I didn't read the article because I don't want to screw anything up. I eat about 3500 cal a day and weigh myself every day. I've been 214-218 for 8 months and that's fine because I'm losing fat and gaining muscle with the same weight. I eat what ever I want. I crave this I eat this. I crave that I eat that. What I crave changes all the time. If my weight creeps up I eat less of it. Another thing that helps me is that I only shop for food when I'm craving.
