I was actually going to skip this morning's back/biceps workout, because I was so tired when the alarm rang. But when I finally got up and had my coffee, I found it was not too late to go to the gym, and felt more energetic, so I went.
GREAT workout! I'm so glad I didn't miss out on that!
Thats motivating for me to start doing cardio, even when I have the time for some reason I do not have the patience mentally to be a on treadmill or go outside and run for over 20 mins.
i hate running outside new kid.... I like doing cardio in gym, the eliptical or I do the treadmill HIIT style, I walk normal, then I do a speed walk all on incline.....and I think I drink 1 quart of water while there
Its the best when you finally get to the gym, do your workout and you are amazed that it actually went well and are happy you didnt miss it. I have found that if I just GO, worst case is I do some sets and get a pump but I made the effort Its got to be worth something.
Well, my weight this morning was up a pound, to 194 pounds.
I have had several people tell me not to weigh myself so often. Usually, their reasoning is that the normal day-to-day fluctuations, which will of course include some up-ticks in weight, may cause me to become depressed.
But as an engineer, my mind-set is that more data can never be a bad thing. I can make a sliding time-averaged filter in Excel if I want to smooth out the trends. Anyhow, I am not worried. I just need to keep to my plan.
AM Cardio: 45 minutes on the treadmill this morning.
Weight was 192 pounds again this morning. That makes 6 pounds lost in the 2 weeks since I started. That puts me a bit ahead of the 2 lbs/week pace I need to maintain through July 15th.
Well, my Easter cheat meal included a lot of carbs (for instance, my wife's cranberry cornbread, fabulous).
I was up 3 pounds to day, to 195 pounds.
At first glance, this would seem to have erased an entire week of progress. But I trust it is just a transitory gain, and I am hoping to be 191 or less by Saturday.
45 minutes of cardio on the treadmill this morning. 3.7 mph, 7.0% grade, 440 Calories burned. I had to start off slowly and build up to that speed, to avoid the muscles over my shins cramping as they did on Saturday.
Message to self: Stop the sabotage; the clock is ticking!
I've been good with my alcohol use (or abuse) recently, but I have the scars to show that has not always been the case.

I've been setting the treadmill settings at 3.5 speed and 2.0 incline. Might have to increase the intensity, though. Seem to have stalled lately.
My temptation is to think that nothing good is going on with my body, and that I am way behind schedule.
I try to think of any ways in which I have sabotaged myself, and all I can think of is a half cup of dry oatmeal here and there, and several handfuls of peanuts over the last few days. I will work to cut out those peanuts first; they are not on my plan.
Still, I would have thought that as much cardio as I've been doing, my weight (or waist measurement) would have started declining a bit more.
Nothing to do but stay the course and wait and see.

we are all feeling it.... i am just hoping my waist doesnt go UP while I am bulking up cuz it is a bitch to take off!
I theoretically could have gotten in another cardio last night (because my band practice was cancelled), but I was dog tired, and my knee was hurting, so I skipped it.
I'll do a cardio this morning. Then, I have a back workout planned for early tomorrow morning. I am scheduled to re-incorporate deadlifts, which I dropped a while back.
Looks like you are bustin Butt. Nice to see another old timer in the contest!

Jagbender's battle of the bulge The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living
Doing great I would sweat the weight flucuations. MIne goes up and down 5 pounds daily. I would automaticaly contribute to fat gains, most likley water stress etc. Just keep working away youll get where you want.

I don't go up and down that much; usually 3 pounds. But you're totally right - it's just a mind game. I can't become distracted by the scale. I just need to show up at the gym and keep to the plan.
