Excellent thread Curt! I think this is very much a loaded questions, largely because there is a growing gang of haters (no other way to describe them) that self-proclaimed themselves the online puritans of the sport. You can find some of these folks in the bodybuilding press, running certain organizations, and even (sadly) competing.
To suggest that guys like Skip Lacour or Jeff Willett are not natural because once upon a time they took a ph - or not; or to somehow suggest that someone that took AAS 10, 20yrs ago and competes naturally today, is not natural, is ridiculous.
I don't have an issues with anabolics, just like I don't have issues with Marijuana. Although I'm practically a socialist on social programs, education, and medical initiative, I'm a hardcore Libertarian on Privacy, Constitutional Rights, and CHOICE. I have MAJOR issues with the people needing the Government to tell us what's morally acceptable or not. I don't think people that off a handle of bourbon, smoke their lungs to darkness, and squander their kids college funds on the ponies, should be in any kind of position to criminalize the use of hormones. The fact AAS is illegal - especially criminalized to the extent it is in the U.S. - is a travesty of our legal system.
However, I understand people want a level playing field. I think you can achieve that level as long as there's some tests in place. I think everything you listed is natural. I even think prohormones, ephedrine, and dhea could fall into this category. I don't think a 5:1, or 6:1 testosterone ratio (on the other hand) should be the norm, either.
I think the testing in place at the NPC Team U should be the standard for Natural Bodybuilding (New topic?). Anyways, aside from all my tangents -- nice thread Curtis. Does anyone call you Curtis? Is Curtis your name?
NEXT ON CURT JAMES TV!
