Hi. I just registered because I found a carb cycling thread.
I am turning 40 next year and I want to make a push to be the in the best shape of my life by that date. April 2012, so I have about 50 weeks.
Basic stats are 6'1" 189 lbs. I was 241 lbs. one year ago and had cholesterol and triglyceride numbers about triple the norm. Those are all normal now after taking a diet approach based on insulin resistance issues. I cut my calories way down for a long time and did 3 rounds of P90X. This year I joined a gym with my buddy and after 5 months I have dropped about 15 lbs. and some body fat. Down to about 15% from 24% a year ago. I have gained some muscle, but I am not really getting bigger or cutting fat at the moment. 2 months at this weight and if anything, I have a little more fat around the midsection, which I will attribute to falling off the nutrition wagon a bit. I was looking at carb cycling and to clean up my diet. I have my calories set at 2400 right now, but have been getting some of that from processed junk. I average about 240g protein, 140g carbs, 50 fat/day.
Let me know what you think needs tweaking for the diet.
Goals: Short term -I want to be cut for summer.
Long term. For my 40th B-day I would like to come in bigger and stronger but to have a 6 pack, which I have never had. So, when do I have to bulk and cut to meet those goals?
