    Greetings

Welcome aboard Daddy Mojo. I'm a former grunt myself. I'm 55 yrs. old and I decided to give my a birthday present by getting in some kind of decent shape before I hit 56 years old next year. I couldn't think of no better gift to give to myself.

Hi, welcome to the board. Lots of old guys here. I'm 63 but feel like I'm in my 20s. Diet & training mixed with a little trt if needed will help you with your goals.

I'm closer to 50 than 40, so I guess I kinda count. Welcome! What Brazey said I think... start w/ looking at the things that are your "lifestyle" - diet first, then quality of sleep -- getting enough! And then training, maybe a little cardio. I'd probably tell you to start by posting up a thread in the Diet section w/ your current meal plan - recommend you list out a typical day's meal plan as:

    Meal 1: 8 am
    1 whole egg + 6 egg whites
    1/2 c oatmeal

    Meal 2: 11 am
    6 oz chicken

    Etc.

Then use this to put into a food counts program like FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal - its easy and relatively quick. The end result is that you have a pretty accurate quantification of what you're eating as a baseline. Then post up your total calories and breakdown (%, grams) of protein, fats, carbs. From there, based on your goals, its usually pretty easy suggest a couple of minor tweaks to get you moving in the direction you want w/o having to make dramatic changes to your daily life.

From there - post of your current training regimen. Again usually the easiest way to make progress is small tweaks to what you're currently doing.

    And you're off!

Not at the present. Good & knowledgeable docs are hard to find and anti-aging clinics are through the roof. Much cheaper to research on my own.

    New over 50

Hello, I am 54 and also trying to get back into shape. I started lifting weights in high school for football. I kept lifting off and on thru the years.

I now lift more consistently to stay in shape and maintain some level of fitness. I don't want to be a couch potatoe.

However, good luck there seems to be quite a few older individuals on this site who are committed to staying in shape and maintaining an active quality of life.
