Cool Here we go again

Hello all,

No, I'm not a newbie here - just a new account. Well, I'm new enough as I wasn't here long before I left - so I'll still consider myself a new guy on the block. I completely forgot all the information attached to my old account, since I've been in Ireland for the last six months where my family has property. Life over there consisted of nice long walks and plenty of Guinness. No weights. Fortunately, no weight has been gained. None lost either, but I don't want to lose any

To make a long story short, it's been half a year since I was even semi-seriously hitting the gym. This is the only break longer than a couple of weeks I've taken in two years. But hell, at 21 years of age, and always having been naturally fit, I don't worry so much. I never managed to gain much weight in terms of muscle-mass anyway, but the overall "shape" of my body in terms of appearance did improve visibly.

I've read tons of information here, and feel thankful every day that informed, mature people actually do exist, and in fact, do reside here! That being said, I have some questions that though touched on here or there, have never been answered to my complete satisfaction. People always gave iffy answers, or were too vague. Getting a "yes or no", or definite answer always seemed impossible:

1. Creatine. I haven't touched it in 6 months, so a "load" is definitely in order. Now I don't really have on a students budget the funds neccessary to buy the latest, greatest transport. Will regular sugar be acceptable? If so - how much do I take to generate a sufficient spike? And how much are people recommending these days (in grams) for the daily loading phase? I'm 130 pounds currently.

2. Glutamine. I understand it well enough - but I'm going loopy with all the people that say "yes, you can take it with creatine", and those that say "no, you can't". I need a yes or no answer. Will absorbtion of either be hampered?

3. I'm a hard gainer in the worst way, like alot of others here. In my own tiny way (heh) I look "cut" already. I have some upper body definition, and can see what looks like a pretty nice set of bumpy abs. I'm looking at "mass" as my goal this time, so is 4-6 reps of heavy-as-I-can-handle (two sets?) still the best way to go for that?

4. EFA's. Never touched them as a supplement. When I was watching what I was eating, I always had these eggs we have up here in Canada which are uniquely high in Omega-3 EFA's. Normally 2 or 3 whole eggs as part of breakfast - sometimes that's all I had, with a little protein shake. I intend to actually try EFA's in supplement form now - perhaps it was the missing ingredient last time? Flax, or Fish Oil? In my post-workout shake I would assume is best but that leads to my final question...

5. Post-workout shake. Perhaps the most confusing issue of all for me. So many people suggest so many things. And yes, I know, different things work for different people, but I'd like to make an educated guess what would work for me, so a reccommendation would be appreciated. Immediately after a workout, I used to take 5 to 10 grams of creatine with two tablespoons of sugar, then wait 30 to 45 minutes, and then drink a protein shake with 5 grams of glutamine mixed in. This seem sensible? Or is there a way to compact it? Or is it too compact already? Can I throw the EFA's in there? Theoretically, could I drink a mixture of creatine, glutamine, whey protein, sugar, and EFA's, or am I just trying to cut corners? I think that might be.

I really appreciate anyone who manages to make it through this long-winded inquisition. You deserve a Gold Star

Cheers. I was never quite sure where to put them.

Thanks for the tip!

Anyone else able to comment on my other questions?

Again, thanks.

Don't use plain sugar. Use dextrose!

Thanks guys, been here before, but it's been awhile. 6 months back in Ireland more or less put a stop to any serious working out.

Good to see this is still the right place to come!
