Question Desperately Seeking Muscle Mass

Hi all,

My name is Juan Romero, I live in MA. Although I've never been much into bodybuilding, since turning 40 this year I’ve become very conscientious of my eating habits and physique. After a very dedicated 3 month workout using Bill Philips’s Body for Life, I’ve gone from 175 to 160 lbs and cut my body fat by 2% to 13%. My goal at that time was to get my body lean and into shape. I’ve done exactly that! However, I keep losing weight and my goal is now to put weight back in muscle mass. My body structure is that of an "ectomorph" and thus, I find gaining mass a rather difficult task.

Currently, my workouts have become more intense. I’ve up the weight, up the sets, and cut down on the reps in order to accomplish some mass.

I would just like to know if this is the right approach for someone with these goals. I do cardio 3 day per week, and weight training 3 days per week. I follow a very healthy diet and I am currently considering trying a cycle of BioTest’s Mag-10.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Juan

You are on the right track. Heavy resistance is the stimulus to muslce growth. You may need to take in more calories but you only need slightly more than your maintenance to see some growth.

There have been several IM members who started off doing BFL... it's a really good program!
