I'm a 42 year old guy. Working out for a long time, but getting more seriously into bodybuilding in the past several months. Found a useful book (Testosterone Advantage Plan) and working out much, much harder. Getting good results (lost waist size, but not weight, and definitely looking more buff and beefy). Belonged to a gym near work for 7 years but just joined a gym near home so it's easier on weekends and vacation. Basically trying to put all the odds on my side.
What I crave (I'm being blunt here) is mass. Always wanted it. Just love it. Not sure why. I'm sure a lot of guys here will understand though. Now that I'm pushing myself real hard in order to try and get it, it's a bit of a struggle. I eat very well, and a lot but quite balanced. I take multi-vitamins (Mega Men) and antioxidants. A couple more supplements, creatine and 4-androdiol. The struggle is that as much as I'm making progress, I feel like I'm walking a fine line between getting good, heavy workouts, getting enough food, enough rest and not injuring myself. I have to say my recovery time takes too long for my tasted. I love my chest and arms workout and would like to do it every third day, but it's hard to be ready to do it again just after 3 days, especially that this means my back and shoulder workout happens either the day right after, or right before. Since both workouts use my arms a great deal, they don't seem to be getting enough rest. It's just getting to be a very fine balance, so I'm not sure how I push harder. Been looking for support, from people who know what this is all about. My gym trainers are more the cardio types than the bodybuilder type, so i'm not sure I trust their advice to help me through this "dilemna". I have found a lot of info out there, and by the sound of it, I seem to be doing the "right thing" in terms of nutritioni, adding resistance, getting enough sleep and rest, vitamins, etc. But how do I get to the next level, and the next one, and the next one. I thought a forum like this might provide me with some insight and perhaps allow me to share my experience, for what it's worth. So, Hi to All. Great to be among all of you. |
