It’s time for me to get back into shape. Everything I learned about food and weights I learned from here. I was able to cut and get ripped after learning how to do it right from these boards.
Unfortunately, at the peek of being in the best shape of my life, family tragedy struck and I had to become the caretaker for a family member with pancreatic cancer. Two years of awful surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. She is living with no signs of recurrence, but recurrence is expected any month. Only 1% to 3% of those diagnosed with this type of cancer live beyond 5 years. It’s a bad one and her situation is bleak.
Needless to say, junk food and no gym access for the last 2 years did nothing good for my figure. I’m nice and fat and my muscles have not been used for anything other than sitting around.
But I’m back home and ready to start a new program. I NEED to start a new program; to live after being around so much illness and death. I need your help to get this new chapter going
It’s been so long, I’m not really sure where to begin.
Originally, I used the Low Carb Male Cutting Plan which worked really well. I did have a cheat day every seven days though and I know I could have received far better gains if I cut that out completely or at least limited it to once a month.
Weekly cheat days may have been the result of a psychical need for a carb load or simple addiction; I‘m not sure. I’m very aware of sugar/carb detox – those weird and often uncomfortable first three or four days (or more). Those aren’t fun detoxes (with a cheat every 7 days, I had sugar detox every week), but controlling sugar and carbs is key for cutting fat.
I mention all of this, asking for help choosing the best cutting plan for me to start.
For working out, I feel like a beginner again. At best, I did cardio in the mornings 6 days a week and weight trained using a four-day split during the evenings. Also with weight training, I alternated between endurance and strength every three weeks.
Frankly, that is what I’d like to get right back into ASAP, but I’m worried I’m not used to dragging my butt down to the gym that much (only 4 minute walk away). I’m also not at the level I was when I stopped.
I guess to start - morning cardio at 20 minutes and building back to 45/60 minute over time and 4-day split w/ light weight, endurance training.
All I know is that I need to come up with a kick ass workout and nutrition plan that will work – I know with a little support here, I can get beefed-up and ripped
I’ll start posting in the weight and nutrition forums too so I hope you will help.
Here are my stats too –
Male
34 year
6 feet, 6 inches
260 lbs. – between 20 – 35 lbs over
Fat % - not sure, around 30 to 35
Let’s just say my belly has grown nice and plump
