    just back to training

Hi, I'm a new member in England. I used to train through my teenage years into my mid twenties, but stopped around 12 years ago. I'm only 5ft9 and my weight ballooned to around 310 pounds, through doing no exercise and eating junk.
I finally got a grip of myself 8 weeks back and joined my local gym, starting with a workout designed by the instructor and gradually increasing the intensity of my workouts. I've just started my third program. I now weigh in at 262 pounds, having worked out 6 times per week and removed junk food from my diet completely. I'm still having a few pints of guinness once per fortnight.
I'm happy with the weight loss so far, and I've had a big increase in muscle tone. My main aim is to lose weight and gain lean mass. I've calculated that I am having around 60 gm of protein per day, and I'm wondering whether this is enough? Should I take a supplement or simply increase dietary protein?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

hey donny, welcome to IM. congratulations on getting back into training and everything. definitely head over to the diet section of the forums and post any kind of question you can think of, also browse through the stickies in many sections of the forum because there are a lot of helpful and interesting things to get you going down the right path. you are only getting in 60 grams of protein a day, though? i, and i think anyone else, would recommend getting in 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound, every day. i weigh 130, so i get in around 135 to 145 grams of protein every day pretty much. good luck with your training !
