Archie - Yeah, I was a little dissapointed by no PR's, but I don't really expect them on rep range week, I usually save them for power week, because it makes a lot more sense.

Also, thanks for the progress encouragement. One think I'm a bit confused about is how far I should bulk before I start to cut. Since november I've gained 19lbs (158 to 177). Once I hit 180, I'm not really sure if I should cut or continue to bulk slowly, though it might help for me to post more current pics when I get to 180.

Trizzle - Yeah, indoor soccer is fun for cardio, sprinting around can really wear you out.

I would think the switch to cutting would depend more on BF% than just wieght. Any idea what you are at?

I can't be exactly sure because I don't have callipers, but I do have a BF scale. The readings on it are all over the place, sometimes in the morning it's as high as 17-19 which I know is too high for how I look, and it's read as little as 11 something which I know is too low. Right now I'm guessing I'm right about 15%.

Also, if I plan to by calipers, which ones are best? Are the digital ones any good? Also, how do you use the tradition kind, does it come with instructions?

I'm mostly looking at the ones here: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/...L-choices.html

Lol, thanks Cris. I think the main reason for the PR's I feel is due to P/RR/S. I like the variety and on power week I just feel like I can go all out.

Though the numbers may not show it, today's workout was killer. I had to kind of rush it because I got out of school later than normal, and there was a possibility I had to work afterwards, but I found out I don't now . Anyone, the RI on the bigger things (squats, SLDL, Leg Press) were around 1-2 minutes, and the issolation exercises were closer to 30 seconds to 1 minute. When I squated down to pick my keys and paper + pencil up after leg extensions, I had a hard time pushing myself back up .

Also, on the SLDL one of the guys I've seen workout there quite a few times and actually knows what he's doing was on staff today (the first time, I think he just recently joined). So, I asked him to help me out on SLDL form a bit. It helped I think, but it's still a little weird compared to standard deads for me. It's hard to tell if I'm rounding my back at any point or not (no mirrors). After all the deads though, my back did have a real nice burn (nothing sharp). I felt it in my glutes + hams too, but it still just seems like it's hitting more lower back more.

Yeah, they're definately something I need to continue working on. I think when I switch to the World Gym in about a month, I'm going to tell the staff to correct me whenever they see me doing it wrong (if that doesn't bother them).

Find the link to your journal and rightclick it and go to "Copy Shortcut", then when you go to edit your signature click the hyperlink button, it will pop up a text box in which you will type the title of your journal then the next textbox will be where u paste the hyperlink

Well the majority of my stats are in my sig. As far as lifts, I've never maxed out because I don't have a workout partner and there's not much point except to test your strength and see where you're at, but you don't really need to know you maxes to improve.

If you want me to take guesses, then these are what I would estimate: Squat: 215-225 Bench: 180-190 Deadlift: 180-200

As for long term goals, I'd like to get around 200lbs and get under 10% bf at some point, if that happens, then I might as well go for more if I can. I don't really want to have the "ultimate" bodybuilder physique, but I want to look strong/muscular and be pretty strong for my weight.

You and I are aiming for the same thing. I also lift alone and rarely have a good spotter (someone i can trust at my gym). I never really do max attempts which isn't necessary like you said. My stats are almost similar to yours...squat 275-285, deadlifts 305, bench 180-205 (i am assuming these are probably my max but i do less to avoid injury and no spotter). I'm at 16.4% BF and i am aiming for 8-10%, 200-220 pounds which is good enough for me, not looking to be super ripped like the hardcore bodybuilders because i also want to have strength as well.

How long ago did you start? You already seem to be pretty strong for your size. In a way, I'm kind of annoyed my squats + deads are so close in numbers to my bench, I think most of it's due to my lower back being weak.

When i started my numbers were exactly like that, it was because in middle school sporatic occasions i would workout for a few weeks it would be all chest.. being new i made some decent gains, even though i worked out my chest 4 times a week .. but ull find your legs have a way of catching up quickly.. just keep that lower back in good health of course..

I started serious lifting about 3 months ago. Before that, i was very inconsistant lifting off/on not having a clue about my diet and routines until i found this site. The numbers i put up now is nowhere close to what i was doing 3 months ago. I'm just getting stronger and my squat/deadlifts is increasing slowly but i lack on the bench. I can barely do 200 so 185-190 is my max. It's weird too because i'm pretty strong when i doing Dumbell presses but pretty weak doing barbell. I'm stronger than i look but it's frustrating that it's taking a while to gain size but i love to lift. I will never quit.

If we were going to the same gym, we would have been a good pair since we both do similar routines and put up the same numbers. Would have been more helpful with a spotter. However, don't worry about your numbers. Just focus on your form and your nutrition and before you know it, the numbers will go up. It takes time because i was stuck for a while but i fought through it.

Yeah, before I found this site in november my primary diet was fast food and I never worked my legs and hardly worked my back !!!!!!! It was the same thing every time I went to the gym too. I'd do like 14 different exercises a day 3 times a week. I can't believe how ignorant I was then .

Still compared to a few others on the boards I'm getting somewhat of a late start, but hopefully the next few years I'll gain like crazy.

I guess. I suppose I'm a little impatient in regards to results even though I am making decent progress. Strange too because I'm generally a patient person when it comes to most things.
