Rep Range: Back/Biceps/Abs

Today's workout was alright, not great though. I think it was mostly because I only had a couple small meals before I worked out so my energy wasn't that great. On the drive back home though, I did feel nice and relaxed. I gotta make up for my small eating earlier now ! Also, I got a haircut today, which is somewhat weird for me because until today, I literally can't remember the last time I had one, but it was probably around December.

I'm looking forward to shock week next week, as well as graduation ! Only 2 days of school next week for me, and NO FINALS !!!!!!

I'm think after shock week's over next week, I'm going to tweak my routine and split it into 4 days instead of 3. Right now I'm thinking Chest/abs/cardio, Legs, Back/abs/cardio, Delts/Bis/Tris. I still want to keep it in a P/RR/S style routine so if anyone has some ideas, I'm open ears. (hey that rhymed !)

Saturday

5-28-05

Back/Biceps/Abs/Cardio



BB Bent Rows

1st set – 145lbs 9 reps

2nd set – 135lbs 11 reps

2nd set – 125lbs 13 reps



BB Shrugs

1st set – 225lbs 10 reps

2nd set – 205lbs 9 reps….rest 10 seconds + 4 more reps (grip gave out after rep 9)



Hyper Extensions

1st set – 25lbs 10 reps

2nd set – 25lbs 10 reps



Cable Lat Pull Downs

1st set – 200lbs 10 reps

2nd set- 210lbs 12 reps



BB curls

1st set – 75lbs 7 reps

2nd set- 65lbs 8 reps….rest 5 seconds + 2 more reps (biceps just got exhausted)



DB Concentration Curls

1st set – 30lbs 8 reps (barely)

2nd set- 20lbs 12 reps (also barely)



Declined Situps

1st set – 25lbs plate 30 reps

2nd set- 35lbs plate 20 reps



Weighted Crunches (machine)

1st set – 80lbs 14 reps

2nd set – 70lbs 15 reps



Cardio 15 mins elliptical, highest cross-ramp, 11/20 resistance, 1.58 miles

Thanks Archie. Do you mean you like my current split, or my beginning idea for a 4 day split?

It's really weird to think I only have 2 days left of high school... This summers going to go quick I'm sure and then I'll have to dive right into college . Hope I can manage to keep a decent diet during college .

have you tried doing DB Shrugs instead of BB? I find it a lot easier to grip the DB.

My graduation is next week, but i have 5 fricken finals to study for. Kill me.

Yeah, I've done DB shrugs before, but for some reason they don't feel like they hit the traps as well as BB for me. At any rate, it forces me to work on my grip.

Man, that sucks about the finals. Can you get exempt from them as a senior at your school or no?

When you do DB shrugs, try shifting the DB's towards the back of your body, I PROMISE you'll feel 'em!!! Also hold each rep for a 5 count, that'll blast them suckers like there is no tomorrow!!!

Maybe I'll give that a go when I switch to a 4 day routine...

I forgot to add something a little funny in my original post today...
When it was time for lat pull downs, I couldn't find the bar for them. I went to the desk and asked and the guy smiled and said "We took it away because people were hitting their heads on it." So, he got it from around the desk and handed it to me. At that point I said "Isn't that kind of their fault?" He replied by saying something like "Yeah, but people were complaining about it."
WTF is that !?!? I can't wait to change gyms now...

In Fla the senior finals for our classes are way before graduation.. we end school a week before school ends.. you guys are still in school? our last day(seniors) was May 12th, and the rest of the school was May 19th.. i guess we go earlier

We started school on like september 5th. We have 1 full day of school left on may 31st and then finals are june 1-3. Our graduation day is june 12th and the all night party is that night after graduation and then high school is officially over with the exception of grad parties (I am going to try my hardest to avoid alcohol but having a few wont kill me i hope). What sucks for the underclassmen though is that they dont get out til june 24th because of the several cancellation days due to snow.

By the way, what are you guys doing next year? Going to college? Work?

Oh that must be why, last year we started August 7th.. I dont know when they start this year but im going to college so most of the starting days for college are closer to september/the end of august

I've been hanging around, I have a few days between my workouts saturday and tuesday, so my journal usually dies down a bit.

My diet suffered a little over the holiday weekend, mostly just not eating enough because of keeping busy. Sunday was my graduation open house with my friends which was alright I guess, a little boring at the same time. Yesterday I went to Fudrucker's with my dad and got a grilled cajun chicken sandwich with jalepenos, bananna peppers, onions, and Hein 57 sauce which was quite good .

Anyway, tomorrow's my last day of high school ever. Graduation ceremony is this coming weekend, so once all that dies down I'll have some time to tweak my diet and routine a little.

Right now I'm just eating my pre-workout meal then getting ready to hit the gym for my shock chest/tricep day, so I'll post when I get back.

Shock: Chest/Triceps/Shoulders

Today's workout was decent. I did go up on most of the weights from last shock week and if not, I got 1 or 2 more reps except on 2 or 3 exercises. I'm not sure why, but I still did feel a little low on energy at the gym again like I did on saturday, not sure what's with that.

RI's were incredibly low today, I'm not sure the total time but I'm guessing around 45 minutes. For cardio I mowed the lawn... After the workout and lawn mowing, I'm exhausted.
Tuesday

you probably feel low on energy because you could be tired or did not have enough to eat before your workout. It helps to relax a little bit before you go to the gym. Like i sit and watch tv a little bit at home and listen to some music in the car on the way there to get pumped up and have a sandwich. Once im in the gym, i start thinking positive and plan out what i am going to do and then im ready to get pumped.

Another thing, supersets and drop sets can really wear you out and it's tough to keep up (especially the number of exercises you did today) so dont be dissapointed. Just keep it up and you'll get there.

By the way, do you take creatine at all? If you don't, i really recommend that you get this stuff and start using it. It is very helpful and increases your strength and gains at a faster rate than without it. Trust me, i've tried doing it on/off and there is a big difference.

Yeah, I always listen to music on the way to the gym to get ready and I usually sit and relax at home for about 30 minutes before I head out as well. I think the biggest part is eating. Lately, lunch hasn't exactly been great... School lunches suck and I've always been too lazy to pack haha .

I've also been using creatine for quite a while. First I went through a bottle of VNS Jacked, and I'm using Dymatize Expand right now. I'll probably order a bottle of Dymatize Energized Xpand and Cell Mass NO-Xplode to give them a try. Basically I'm just trying lots of different kinds to see how I respond to them and which ones I like better. So far, I think I like VNS Jacked better then this Xpand stuff. What are you using?
